"Wonderful place to stay"
The hotel is in a perfect location for visiting Old Montreal. Our room was lovely. It was on the 7th floor and had a balcony overlooking the old city. The shower and jacuzzi were both great. It had all the amenities one would expect for a hotel in this price range. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Room service (just coffee and very good croissants) was speedy. I highly recommend this.
"5 For Location 4 For Staff 3 For Room"
We loved the location and the staff were very helpful, but our room was just okay. Small and somewhat worn out felling. The window coverings were just cheap wooden blinds that didn't keep much light out during the day. The bathroom was quite small. From reading some of the other reviews they do have some nice rooms, but we didn't get one of them. The rooms were quiet and the bed was comfortable. If I came again I still might stay here because of the location and the staff.
We only stayed one night here. Great location. We were upgraded to the junior suite and it was fabulous! Bed, pillows, amenities, nespresso coffee machine, shower, etc. were all amazing!!! The front desk staff was exceptionally friendly and very accommodating. Can't wait to come back.
"location is great, overall experience will depend on kind of room you book"
Recently stayed here for two nights for 3 pax, we booked a Deluxe King Plus room (king and sofa bed). We were assigned a room by the 4th building, you have to walk through a nice common area (enjoyed the billiards) and some steps to the alleyway towards the back (I'm not sure if they have ramp for disabled), it's like a small maze to the elevator on the 4th building from the main/front desk. The room itself is okay, clean, quite small though and the toilet backed up (it's the dual flush kind that are used in homes, expected way better for this caliber of hotel), we asked for a plunger and they were quick to bring it. Bed was awesome, rating it 5 stars. No complaints as to the location, right across the Place D' Armes and very close to the Notre Dame Basilica, Rue Saint Paul, Chinatown. Nice walking distance to Place Jacques-Cartier, even to downtown Montreal. Maybe expected too much, having read on some reviews here, but I guess it all depends on the kind of room you're in and which building. Didn't experience the same niceties from the front desk like the others although the valet guys were great. Booked direct through their website and you get complimentary breakfast (current promotion, I guess). Only one of us availed of this (served at the Kyo Bar- fruits, croissants, cheese), although if you want eggs, sausage, etc. you need to order, and while we were there it took quite a while to be served, not sure if they're not ready for more people ordering than eating the buffet breakfast. We were not able to check out the rooftop bar, as it was close when we tried going up there once. Maybe we'll try another hotel in the area next time and then compare. Still rating it 4 stars.
"Weekend in Montreal"
We spent a long weekend at the hotel to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in a junior suite with the loft design. The loft design is perfect for two people. It has a full bath downstairs and a half bath in the loft. Bathrooms have upscale toiletries. There is a TV in each space and a nice sitting area in the loft. The hotel is in a great location! It's across the street from Notre-Dame Basilica, close to the metro and a short walking distance to numerous restaurants and any of the sites in Old Montreal. The hotel has two restaurants but we only ate at 701 which has good food and excellent cocktails. Regrettably, on the last day of our stay we had difficulty getting our suite cleaned. We finally succeeded at 7pm. We appreciate the bottle of wine the hotel provided for our inconvenience but we would have preferred having our suite cleaned on time. Nevertheless, we do plan to stay there again because we really liked the suite and the location.
