First time in Quebec City so we were just guessing about location but Chateau Laurier was perfectly situated in the midst of everything... convenient to walk or drive to all areas of interest. We spent 3.5 days in April and had a great time. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating. The only concern we had was parking our large SUV in the garage - a very tight fit! All of the restaurant recommendations were great and there is an abundance of different food options. Not speaking French was rarely a problem - there were only a few instances when there was an issue with language. Having spent quite a bit of time in Montreal, we find Quebec City to be much friendlier towards English speakers. This was a pleasant surprise. The weather was perfect for walking and there's alot of walking to do here - if you are so inclined. Having the car was helpful though, for exploring further away, such as shopping in St. Foy and visiting the Aquarium - both destinations are recommended! We will definitely come back (and will stay at the Chateau Laurier!!) as we only had enough time for a few excursions. A truly enjoyable long weekend for our family!
"Short but very enjoyable stay"
I stayed for one night in QC on very short notice. I booked on a Monday, flew red eye to Montreal plus connection to get there on Tuesday morning for a Tuesday lunch meeting with clients. I had called ahead to ask about an early check in so I could shower and shave before my lunch, and the very friendly woman checked my room and confirmed that it would be no trouble. When I arrived as planned, the check in process was again friendly and the woman with whom I had earlier spoke with came by to say hello using my name. The room was great, the location is pretty good and the rate is a decent value. After meetings and a nap, I explored the city and came back to enjoy the wine dispensing machine which was very nice on a cold evening. the next day again everyone was extremely friendly and efficient during my departure. I will be back to this hotel on my next trips to see that client.
Mu husband and I actually live here in Quebec City and had won an overnight package that the manager had generously donated as a door prize. I had honestly never step foot into this hotel before and from the time we arrived to the time we left we were pleasantly surprised. The service at check-in was fast and very friendly; a positive experience. Our room, though not large, was spotless and had everything we needed. We used the pool, hot tub and sauna. The whole area looks new and clean and modern and the sauna is large and fabulous. We went out to eat and had breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast was generous with lots of healthy options and a very reasonable price. The staff were friendly and discrete and we really enjoyed our stay.
This quiet hotel is within walking distance of the old city and restaurants. It has a pool, a jaccuzzi, and an indoor access to a restaurant and a little store. Even has a wine vending machine. Perfect when it snows.
"Convenient and beautiful"
We stayed here for 4 days in March and it was great! The hotel staff were all very nice and helpful. We ate in the restaurant in the hotel the first evening and it was good. We had drinks in the bar one night and the service was excellent. My daughter and I spent some of every afternoon relaxing in the lobby area while my husband worked in our room. The lobby was very relaxing and relatively quiet. And the wine bar! I loved having a card and refilling my glass whenever it was convenient for me. I think every hotel should have a wine bar!! The hotel is about a 6 minute walk from the wall into Old Quebec, although the walk back (all uphill) was probably 8 minutes lol. We ate in restaurants across the street from our hotel 2 nights and both experiences were really good. There is some construction next door to the hotel but we never heard any noise in our room. My daughter is fluent in French (I'm barely fluent in English some days) and she enjoyed speaking to people in French and I liked that everyone was very willing to switch to English for me (someone had to help me re-fill my wine card). Our room was very comfortable for 3 of us and I liked that there were 2 casual chairs to sit on in front of the window. The room, hallways and lobby were all sparkling clean. My daughter is hoping to bring some of her French students to Quebec next year and she would like to stay at the Hotel Chateau Laurier as it was so nice.
