"Location Location Location"
The location was perfect for Old Quebec and all of the attractions. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and courteous. We also took the Metro #800 to the Montmorency Falls. It was one bus which took about 35-40 min. I would defintely stay here again and I would recommend it for others.
"Great experience - would stay again"
Before travelling to Que City and to the Chateau Laurier, I read the reviews of this hotel. Some of them gave me some trepidation about my choice. However, we were very pleased with our stay at this hotel. Let me outline some of the best features: very modern shower/bathroom with very plush towels great bed and feather pillows - much like home - great sleep we had a room (605) over the inner courtyard - Des Plaines - even with a small wedding on Saturday night (30) it was a very quiet room. lots of storage drawers and cupboard two very comfortable chairs and bench at door to sit on when putting on your shoes. the concierge was very helpful but very busy- they should have two agents available during the peak hours. great location very close to old city but take walking shoes as there are many hills and the walk is a good workout.
"Not worth what we paid"
We booked an "Ultra" room at this hotel because it was literally the only option available in our price range in Quebec for the dates we had selected. (When we booked our multi-city trip through Canada we did not realize that there was a major tall ship festival the days we planned to be in Quebec, and all the other hotels in the city were sold out.) Since we were arriving in the hotel in the morning, I tried to contact them in advance to ask them about early check-in. I sent them an online message, and when I didn't hear back after 24 hours I called. I waited on hold for 15 minutes before leaving a voicemail (no one called me back), and tried their online chat three times before I finally got through to someone. However, the room was ready for us when we arrived at 10am, which meant a lot to us! The room (247) was a bit disappointing, though. We knew it was going to be small, but I didn't expect it to feel like a college dorm room. The walls were thin, the bed squeaked, the wifi was inconsistent, and our view was a brick wall and an AC vent. All I could think was, "We are paying $250 a night (plus taxes!) for this?" I know the prices were probably inflated for the festival, and beggars can't be choosers, but we had just come from much nicer hotel rooms in Ottawa and Montreal which cost a lot less, so this did not feel like a good value. That said, the room was clean and modern and contained all of the necessities, just not the luxuries you would expect at that price. It was clearly designed for the solo business traveler rather than a couple on a romantic getaway. We tried to make the best of it. The hotel was in a good location, just outside the old city walls, on a tree-lined street with many restaurants. There was a significant amount of construction going on, but it only detracted from the outside ambiance and didn't bother us inside the hotel. We enjoyed using the pool and and hot tub, and the convenience store downstairs was helpful. Unfortunately, I had one more negative experience when we were checking out. The person at the desk could not find my reservation, and it turned out that the person who had checked me in had changed the reservation to my boyfriend's name. As a woman, I found it a little offensive that a reservation that I made in my name, that I checked in for, and that was on my credit card had immediately been switched to the name of my male companion, who had had no part in the transaction. It felt sexist. Overall, this hotel was overpriced given the room quality and inconsistent service, though it was clean and well-located. I probably would not stay there again unless I got a really good deal and a better room.
"A really nice hotel"
A well situated very nice hotel, excellent rooms and supplied with all you could require. The hotel provides good food and all amenities and the included breakfast is exception considering its all in the booking price.
"Very pleasant stay."
A very nice place to spend your stay in Quebec City. The staff was very attentive, especially the concierge, Marie-Pierre, who helped us greatly. Room did not have a fridge, which is common in all hotels rooms that i have stayed. You could rent for 15$ - really? Add it to the room, seems less cheap. Highlight was the wine dispenser ! A must-do while there.
