Stayed there for a business trip only once but will definitely go there again. Excellent hotel with wonderful view of the bay. Hotel restaurant is a culinary adventure. Hotel staff is nice and welcoming. Rooms are spacious and well kept.

"Well located modern auberge on waterfront"

La Baie is not the most beautiful of towns - we stopped there en route to Tadoussac - but this hotel is situated in a nice part of it, on the waterfront which has recently been landscaped and renovated. You can stroll from the hotel along it and watch the going ons in the harbour and cruise ships when they come in from time to time. The hotel itself is a relatively new one and our room (to which we were upgraded) was quite spacious, with a very large bathroom, included both a large bath and a large shower. There was plenty of storage, both cupboard and drawers. The room overlooked the waterfront, which we appreciated (although it did not have a balcony). The WIFI worked faultlessly. We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel on both nights. Breakfast is a pick of six alternatives, from a 'healthy' one to a 'fried' one and was nice - we particularly enjoyed the yoghurt mousseline. Dinner is from a pick from a reasonably wide menu and was quite good. Dinner service was polite, friendly and efficient; breakfast service was also polite, friendly and speedy although the waitress was a little forgetful at times. The hotel proprietor is also the chef and does a good job - La Baie is not blessed with that many good restaurants so its nice to have one in the hotel. We visited in September when it was relatively quiet but there is probably ample parking at the hotel even in busier times. If we had to find fault we would say that there is no lift so one has to lug cases up a floor - there was an offer of help but not with enough enthusiasm to make one feel able to accept it. There is a spa but we did not use it. There is A/C - not universal in this part of Canada.

"Pricey but goid"

My wife and I stayed here 2 nights while visiting the Saguenay area. The room was quite spacious, comfortable and quiet. We were here after the labour day weekend so it was pretty empty and parking was a non issue. As others have noted, it's well located with plenty of walking or bike paths. We actually enjoyed seeing a large cruise ship in the harbour just across the road. Breakfast and dinner were included in the package that we had requested. Both were very good. Dinner was a 3 course table d'hôte with a "surprise" appetizer just before the main entree. My wife enjoyed a salmon dish with a maple sauce that was to die for. I enjoyed a tuna steak one night and a perfectly cooked filet mignon the second. Breakfasts were standard fair and very tasty. The bill for 2 nights including taxes and some inexpensive wine and beer was $750 which seems a bit high for this hotel. Other than the price it was an great experience.

"has both strengths and weaknesses"

In general, this is a very nice place to stay. Our room was large, well maintained, clean, and comfortable with a nice bath and a fire place. The staff was friendly. and conscientious. However, there were negatives. Their reservation process is antiquated and difficult to navigate. You cannot reserve a room directly over the internet, and dealing with the hotel directly by phone was difficult. E mail was worse as they are very slow to respond. The person you have to talk to or e mail to also is the receptionist for the guests as they arrive, and she is swamped and overworked. Also, in order to get a third night in our room, they forced me to buy a package with dinner a for that night and for breakfast the following morning, which I found unattractive, especially since the restaurant is not so good (see my separate review). I can only think that other reviewers who liked the restaurant so much failed to sample other places in town, which were much better. The off street parking is also limited, and you may not be able to find a spot, in which case you must park across the street in public parking spots by the park. The water front location in town is excellent. You can walk to the pier and to the center of town easily. Overall, it is a nice place to stay with reasonable rates, and they treat you very well once you are there. Just be aware of the limitations.

"Very calm and cozy "

The hotel is on the lake shore and is very quiet. The service is very friendly but the rooms could use a slight furniture upgrade, not that they are in bad shape, but they are just a bit outdated for a hotel of that category. We had the breakfast buffet and it was excellent. Lots of fresh food and once again, the staff was very friendly, in particular the chef.
