Over Buffalo Mountain Lodge

Beautiful cozy "lodge feel". Loved the wood burning fireplace in the room. Amazing spot just far enough away from the real busy part of Banff. About a 20 minute walk into town Beautiful scenery. Pet friendly rooms available.
I get away to Banff every year to recharge, and this year was at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Great and comfy room, loved the fireplace. The staff were all very nice and any help I needed was fast. I will stay again.
"Gorgeous. Great service. Everyone was very polite. Excellent food."
Amazing place to stay! Would go back in a heart beat! Great service, beautiful rooms, love the fireplace in every room! Food and drinks were exceptional, would come back anytime, even for longer next time!
Wow... it has been a year already for us on our 50th b-days since our first trip to Banff. We stayed here after reading so many reviews and working out pricing and so many things. But I still think about this place off and on yet. My heart is in the outdoors. I loved this property and it was every bit 'right' for our trip. It was close to the center of town but not in town. The staff was friendly and accommodating at every turn. I loved the coziness of the rooms including the fireplaces stocked with wood and the primitive wooden tables. I loved the cabin/woodsie-like atmosphere. It reminded me of so many camping/fishing trips to Canada, but this was certainly more accomodative. This property is accessible via roads from the back of town or even around town, so if you have your own car, it's easy. and even then, the staff offered shuttle to town constantly. Banff seems to have fences around it(?) There are local elk all around and even if you don't see them on property, they are certainly visible to the east and even in the burbs on the hills just ahead of entrance to the property. Honestly... I don't think wild, just peaceful co-existence I guess. I never ate here, so i can't rate the food, but i did note they were supposed to have one the the best restaurants in the area per the local guide. I was upset there wasn't like a heated pool as I was in the mood when we stayed, but it wasn't a requirement for our trip regardless. All i can say is i was very, very happy with my stay here and this is the place i will try to stay again if/when i come back. This is not a high-end hotel 5 star hotel but more a warm/friendly spread-out resort/lodge,... but it was in every way perfect for out Banff trip and the character of this place added to our special B-Day trip in every way I hoped.
"Not the best hotel in Banff"
We got a gift certificate for this hotel so we used it and we regret it. The room smelled like burnt wood (I am not a camper.. this is why I stay in a hotel). The ottoman had a huge hole (a burn from the fireplace), the walls were dirty, the tile in the shower had small black hair all over it. The room was outdated and it didn't feel comfortable. The other thing is that the TV is in the bedroom, so my husband and I couldn't watch TV after putting the kids to bed. The TV should be located in the living room. There was no bottle water provided. The hot tub was full and people were drinking alcohol, so we didn't go (we even packed bathing suits). Anyways... stay somewhere else....
