Over Buffalo Mountain Lodge

"A TRUE MOUNTAIN EXPERIENCE + GREAT LOCATION"
We had a wonderful time staying at this true rocky mountain resort. I highly recommend a room with a wood burning fireplace. The hotel was close to all the amenities of Banff, but in a nice quiet location. The morning breakfast was 10/10 and the hot tub was great.
"A great Banff experience"
Great rustic feel, friendly staff, and quality rest. Love the prepared wood burning fireplace, Rooms were clean, big bathroom that was well equipped, definitely an experience we will remember. Would highly recommend this for a wedding venue.
"Pretty views and great location"
Wish the room was more updated and cleaner especially for the price we paid for our room. Also robes in the room would be nice too since it is an outdoor hot tub. The floors were not vacuumed and the mirrors were gross. But the view out our back door was amazing and so was the complimentray shuttle service!
"Gorgeous Hotel in a Beautiful Setting"
The last hotel my husband and I stayed in during our trip to Canada. The hotel is on the road that goes up Tunnel Mountain (or Sleeping Buffalo Mountain if you want to call it by the name the First Nations People call it). It is just outside Banff. There is a bus that goes fairly frequently up and down the mountain and you can catch it just outside the hotel. (Word of warning about the bus - it doesn't really keep to the timetable! The incorrect timetable was up on the board when we looked (it had only just run out from May) but even then the bus didn't keep to the right times. Get there at the stated time anyway, but be prepared to wait a while and no one really know when the bus is coming!). You can walk down into Banff. It's probably a 20-25 minute walk at a moderate pace. You can walk down the main road (there is a pedestrian bit of the road to walk on) and at one point you can turn off down a set of stairs and this takes you down to a different part of Banff). So the hotel is in a convenient place. The hotel itself is very classic log cabin. The reception is very nice. Big wooden doors leading into the reception. It's quite low lighting, even during the day. There is a big, open fire opposite the entrance with lots of big chairs around it. There is a bar next to the fire and there is a restaurant to the left-hand side. It's a really nice place (but it reminded me a little bit of Twin Peaks...). The reception staff were very nice and checked us in. They also booked us into the restaurant for dinner that evening. They had lots of information and leaflets you could take. The receptionist gave us copies of certain things with information on Banff and things to do. We then took ourselves to our room. Our room was quite far away from the main reception and I wish we'd got them to help us! The rooms are very nice. Big bed, windows looking into the forest, open fire, chairs in front of the fire, and a balcony to sit on overlooking the forest. There were some coffee making facilities but no mini fridge (you have an ice bucket and can get ice from the machine by the gym). Our bathroom was big and spacious with a freestanding bath that we never used. Good shower. It was a quiet place to sleep. The rooms were really warm, even though it was July and the fires weren't on! We had to sleep with the windows open. Comfortable bed. There is a hot tub outside by the gym. It was moderately warm when we went in. It's open until about 9pm. It was nice to go and sit in it for a little while. One night while we were walking through the hotel, there were some children in there playing and splashing and jumping in from the steps - I think someone must have said something because we came back not long after and they had gone. It's supposed to be for relaxing and does state that it isn't for jumping into! And asks guests to be respectful of other guests. This was a really nice hotel. The nicest hotel we stayed in during our 14 day trip to Canada. I'd happily have stayed here for a week. Really convenient. Lovely rooms. Good facilities. Nice staff. Great hotel.
We enjoyed our stay in a premier room, which was large and quiet, with log fire, armchairs and huge bathroom. The only hotel we stayed in during our 2 week + holiday in Canada which did not have a small fridge, but not a massive problem. A kettle was provided on request for tea making but no pots of milk - powdered milk just does not work! We ate twice in the restaurant, food and service was good but quite expensive, but it is a little way out of town and we did not want to drive in the evening. Used the large outdoor hot tub and sauna, good after a long walk.
