Over Emerald Lake Lodge

Don't waste your money. The price for the service we received was horrible and not worth it in our eyes. Service was extremely slow for drinks. At one point i cancelled my drink and asked for water instead because they took so long. Menu is very limited and not a lot for selection. There were no towels in the club house and a huge pile for laundry. We were put into a pet friendly unit without our knowledge. My fiance' has allergies. We had no robes in our unit and the light bulbs were burnt out. Then the next door unit beside us, their dog would not stop barking. I had called the desk 3 times. Once was not answered, but the other 2 times they were and they did not do anything about it. We try to come there once a year but after this experience we do not know if we will be returning.
We had booked our trip around this lodges availability as we really wanted to spend two days at Emerald Lake and avoid the parking issues and congestion. This did not disappoint. We were promptly picked up from the parking lot by the shuttle bus which drove us into the Lodge. Check-in was quick and sooth. We discovered our room was on the second floor and looked out over Emerald Lake which was beautiful and the choice of two restaurants meant we didn't have to leave the lake area. Service at the lakeside cafe was great, however service at the main restaurant in the lodge was a bit slow. It was also very warm inside the main building as there was no air conditioning - or if there was, it wasn't on. Whilst there we visited the gift shop and went canoeing on the lake. Canoeing was great and was a great price in comparison to Lake Louise. Would very much recommend this when staying at the lodge. However, whilst the room had a great view and we had easy access to the lake, we couldn't help but feel disappointed that for the most expensive place we stayed on our three week Canadian Rockies Trip, the room was a bit dated and we could hear everything from the room below us - which appeared to be the wedding/honeymoon suite. It was not sound proof at all! Combine that with the fact that we had a mouse in our room and when we advised the staff, we were told that nothing could be done to remove the mouse from our room and that all other rooms were booked out, so we had no other options. Overall, we loved the location and activities, but felt the service and the noise in the rooms let it down.
"A wonderful location and comfortable accommodation"
Needs to keep everything in running order. The facilities, such as restaurant, lounge and hot tub were very pleasant and we enjoyed dining and using the hot tub. The rooms were cool in -30C weather but the hot fires made the rooms cozy and the fire boy did a good job of looking after the fires.
The location of the lodge is amazing. Tucked away, in a small valley, about 8 km from the Trans-Canada Highway. It is very easy to get to, but you feel very isolated. There are no TV's in the rooms, and no cell service, so that adds to the isolation feeling (which I loved). There is WiFi in the main lodge if you really need it... The rooms are very rustic, with wood burning fire places. The lodge staff replenishes wood and kindling on a daily basis, so it's easy to keep the fire going. For myself, good lodging only requires 3 things: A comfortable bed, a good shower, and quiet at night. The first two were easily taken care of; the bed was comfortable, and the shower was great. The third item though was not great. We were in a bottom floor room, and above us was apparently a family of elephants. I'm not sure why they were stampeding around at all hours, but it was very loud. Regarding the service, everything was great except they did seem to be a little understaffed at breakfast time. It took a while to be seated both mornings (even though there was clearly tables available), then it also took a while for our orders to be taken. This wasn't a disaster, just worth mentioning... The food was great and reasonably priced.
We visited the Emerald Lake Lodge back in MAY of 2017. The views were stunning and made the stay worth it! CONS: The cabins could use some updating & parking/check-in was sort of a nightmare. PROS: The views alone made the items above worth the inconvenience!
