Over Emerald Lake Lodge

The setting is beautiful and the quiet very relaxing. Wood burning fireplaces with comfy chairs are ideal for reading. The staff were unobtrusive but always helpful. The wedding ceremony was outside - incredible setting, and with no hitches. The restaurant served excellently prepared and innovative food. Hints: bring your own hairdryer, the one provided has little power. Check the menu - the food is very rich but the chef is accommodating. Although it is a very long drive we would like to return during the spring/summer.
"Perfect view - Perfect stay"
Very romantic. If your addicted to the internet you will have withal. The truth is if you keep looking at your phone while at this place, you have a problem. Real life beauty is right in front of you, enjoy.
My husband and I are repeat visitors to Emerald Lake Lodge. We have been there 5 times and stayed 4 times over the last 6 years or so. The perfect place to enjoy solitude and reconnect with your loved one. We are not big outdoor enthusiasts but get great enjoyment from the amazing views from our room while the fire is crackling in the fireplace. Every season is different and amazing. Winter is a pure winter wonderland and summer presents a crystal clear blue green lake like no other. We've enjoyed the walk around the lake and some light hiking in the summer months. We don't mind one bit that there is no wifi anywhere but in the lodge itself, a glass of wine, crackling fire, the sounds of nature and quiet time with my husband. Perfect way to reconnect when life easily gets too busy. We've been married for 20 years, and a place like this is perfect for us. The food and service are absolutely amazing. Never a complaint about food here. This isn't the place to go if you expect a lot of choices for restaurants and low prices. The food is very high end and is priced accordingly. There is normally a lot of peace and quiet here, less people traffic than other places like lake Louise for example. There is a separate parking lot for overnight guests and a parking lot for day parking, guests are shuttled between the lodge and their vehicle at your request. This helps maintain the quiet around the cabins as well. We go here to, on purpose, shut off from the outside world and enjoy some amazing food. The cabins are meant to be rustic so don't expect new and modern decor. The only reason I gave sleep quality a 4 out of 5 is because there was a minor odour that seemed to appear when the heat came on, the beds and pillows are so comfortable and welcoming it's hard to leave them. Our last stay was so close to the hot tub that we walked across in our robes and sandles, so easy to enjoy. We had a booking issue where we were put in a different suite than requested but they immediately corrected it and were appologetic. It is a rustic and aging property and seems to be having some maintenance issues, but we still love it and will be back soon. Highly recommend Emerald Lake Lodge.
"Connect with Nature and the Mountains"
Staying at Emerald Lake Lodge is an incredible experience. A chance to disconnect from technology and the busy world, and re-connect with nature and the mountains. The trip starts when you park your car and shuttle to, what feels like an island on an unbelievably beautiful lake. The history of this area is fascinating, staying at this lodge in Yoho is like visiting a piece of that history. We visited with our large dog. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed, including a little deck with a view. We adored the book which included stories about the area and lodge. Trip highlights: - The lake, we visited in the middle of winter. It was so neat to walk across the lake! Getting the views of the lodge from the lake was really special. We loved the quirky historic gift shop that also rents cross-country skis and snow shoes in winter, boats in summer. - The hot tub! We loved the large stainless steel hot tub, it was modern and wonderfully relaxing. The perfect addition to a weekend away. - The restaurants. With two dining options you have plenty to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The lodge also has a comfortable lounge with wifi. With so many incredible views, outstanding trails and blissful peace and quiet, we will be sure to return again soon.
"Views incredible - accommodation not so much"
When we first arrived, we were overwhelmed by the view. The lake was frozen and the lodge reception had a real cosy feel to it. However, the lodge was not at all as expected from the images. Our 'cabin' was one dingy room of 4, which was extremely cramped and unwelcoming. The whole feel was chlostrophobic and the room was very dated to say the least. The walls were paper thin and we could hear every sound the room above made - every footstep, every cough and sniffle and, unfortunately, the stairs to exit the lodge were located above our room. There was a loud whirring sound which we could hear all through the night. The room provided ear plugs, however even these were not enough to drown out the sound. After having the worst night's sleep ever, we dined in the lodge restaurant for breakfast. This was incredibly average to say the least and not a touch on the lunch from the previous day. Also, upon paying our bill, the waitress decided to keep our change and not offer it back. We probably would've tipped anyway, but after this we were made to feel rude for asking for our change. I would absolutely recommend visiting Emerald Lake, however Emerald Lake Lodge is extremely over priced and definitely not worth it.
