Over Emerald Lake Lodge

"We loved every part of this beautiful spot... except the mice unfortunately"
My partner and I visited Emerald Lake Lodge for a night on our anniversary, following a trip to the lake a few weeks back and seeing the lodge by the water. We loved everything about the layout of the hotel, it was an absolute winter wonderland, with snow everywhere, Christmas decorations and cozy rooms. We were big fans of the hot tub and sauna, as well as the fireplaces in the rooms. The staff was great also and very friendly, which hasn't always been the case in Canada. The food at the hotel was very nice, but fairly expensive. However, the only real negative we found mice in our room. Now, being in the wilderness, I understand this happens and there isn't much that can be done about it until someone has made them aware of the mouse situation, but waking up several times in the middle of the night with a mouse on the bed isn't a great experience. The staff handled the situation very well, and were very apologetic, they offered us a refund or the chance to stay another night. We decided to stay on one more night, and thought we may get offered a room upgrade by the staff member, but were unfortunately just placed in a different room. Other than that we did love the place, just a shame we were sharing our room with some little rodent friends.
"Pretty place slow service"
Great place. Beautiful room and view. Food is excellent but the young people who are servers have been poorly trained and managed. Food was great but the service could of been better especially in the bar. Bartender played on his phone rather than waiting on people. However I would not give a negative review. It’s a little rustic but the room was clean and bed great. Great fireplace with logs. You are in a cabin in the woods and really it is a great place. Just be patient with the the kids who provide service. They are very nice but poorly managed.
"Beautiful location but...."
Emerald Lake is a spectacular place, but the rooms are really tired and not very clean. The bathroom heater was rusty and the paint was peeling. The hotel was on boil water advisory and the front desk's promised water delivery never came. Breakfast took forever as there was not enough serving staff. The place just seemed like it was over capacity. There were no towels available at the hot tub. The locker areas were really yucky. On the plus side, there is a tremendous sense of peace and quiet. There are no cars driving around, no cell service and the only wifi available is in the lodge. Even thought the place is expensive with sub-standard service, I would still stay there again. The food in the restaurant is quite good. There were lots of celiac/gluten free choices. There was only one vegetarian option for dinner.
"Beautiful setting but we were disappointed."
The rooms were abit tired. We were on the main floor and we were woken up by the noise from people going up and down the stairs to the room. Also the cleaning staff vacuuming upstairs at 9 am. We were looking forward to using the hot tub to enjoy the scenery and relax but it was down for maintenance the full 3 days we were there. The night we ate in the restaurant the food was served cold. The service in the lounge was very very slow. Overall just a little disappointed with our experience.
"Stunning location but not as peaceful it should be"
Beautiful location but constant stream of noisy day trippers onto the accommodation island sadly lessened the peaceful retreat it should be for paying guests. The restaurant is very nice with a good wine list.
