"Disappointing at best"
We stayed in the Ocean's Edge Honeymoon cabin for a weekend in July 2015. I intended to review sooner however the photos that I took of the room were on an SD card that ended up getting corrupted and I have been trying to recover the photos. My husband and I had been enthusiastic about visiting this location for two summers as the weekend trip was gifted to me by my employer and we had been waiting for an ideal time to use it. The first thing we noticed on arrival was how neglected the cabins exterior was- a powerwash and a coat of paint could have made a big difference. This is a theme we found on the property, just general neglect. We unload our bags in the room and immediately discover what appears to be weeks of dust and debris around the perimeter of the room. I found a dirty hair curler and enormous dust bunnies with hair sitting under the window, along with dozens of dead bugs. I called housekeeping and asked them to have someone come by to clean this. A young man showed up shortly and handed me a vacuum. I asked him politely to clean it up and he did. Looking out the window to the outside edge of the property, I then discover a pile of old discarded lumber and junk piled beneath the cabin window. Not exactly the picturesque view advertised. The furniture inside was old and cheap looking. The chairs were too low, so that if you actually sat in them, you could not see out the window for that ocean view you paid for. Outside, the two patio chairs were also cheap, and needed a fabric cushion to be comfortable. Too bad it had rained prior to our arrival and they had been left out and were absolutely soaked, so we could not sit on the patio. We tried to get ice for a bottle of wine that we wanted to enjoy and ended up having to go to the back door of the kitchen, and a gentlemen from the kitchen staff put some in a ziploc for us to carry back to our room. Our meals at the restaurant were okay. Nothing spectacular, and we opted to eat most of our meals elsewhere. Overall, this was not worth the over $600 after tax for 2 nights. I have experienced cleaner, nicer cabins with better customer service at KOA campgrounds. The Sunshine Coast area is stunning but I would advise visitors to stay anywhere else other than Rockwater.
Unfortunately we had a poor experience in the cabins at Rockwater. The cabins had poor heating and lighting. The furniture was cheap and actually fell apart when we opened the drawers. The food was equally disappointing because the buffet was cold and dry and room service was unexpectedly not available. It's a shame because the property is fabulous and the view is stunning.
Stayed for New year's. Restaurant quality was excellent and staff were all fantastic. Rooms and all facilities well kept. Location is stellar. We hope to return to one of the" tents" One of the best relaxing getaways on the west coast!
"New management.. worst hotel experience we've ever had"
Probably the worst hotel experience I've ever encountered. We were put in a "newly renovated" room, which was furnished with cheap Ikea furniture & a lumpy single mattress. The blinds in the room were cheap slatted home depot garbage which DIDN'T EVEN COVER THE WINDOWS. I'm not exaggerating. Every guest that walked by could bend down & look at us in our bed through the 1 foot gap of open window or through the 1 inch gap the blinds didn't cover on the sides. The pool was also freezing cold. Could not swim in there at all. We mentioned all this to the hotel & they offered us a reduced rate on a 2nd stay. Great. Mistakes happen, what matters is making up for them. A week before we arrived they called to tell us there was a leak in our tent & wanted to know if we still wanted to come. We had ferries booked & set aside time off from work. Thanks! Instead of figuring out a solution, or paying extra for shipping to remedy the problem, or doing ANYTHING AT ALL TO FIX THE SITUATION, they cancelled our trip. Absolutely brutal experience. The hotel is under new management & it's apparent they are cutting costs & have no regard for service. For what they charge for rooms, it's not worth the gamble. It should be a 5 star experience through & through. This might have been a great hotel with previous owners, but absolutely not worth it.
"Perfect Relaxing Getaway"
If you are looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway (and romantic) you can not do better than a "tent suite" at Rockwater Secret Cove. Amazing!!!! Oh, and the food in the dining room is top-notch too!
