We visited this resort when we were in Jasper and it is lovely! Check in was a breeze and the service from the employees was great. The location is really lovely and is something to be seen for sure!!
Booked 3 nights here and you defently dont get your moneys worth.. you pay top dollar for an adverage room, nothing special or fancy. Food is outragiously priced, paying $80 for breakfest for 2 and it only goes up from there. For anyone looking to get the most out of there money, your better off booking a hotel in town.
We had a two night stay here as part of the Rocky Mountaineer tour. It was my parents 60th wedding anniversary and on arrival found we had been upgraded to a junior suite right on the lake. The cabin was clean and enough room for the three of us. Beds were comfortable and shower was nice and hot. A small outside table and chairs near the doorway was a nice touch, was lovely to sit out and relax but if it was too cold the cabin had a huge window so you sit in the lounge and still admire the view. We had tea in the restaurant, food was good but service was poor. Definitely need to look at the staff they hire or do some retraining. Other than that, this is a great property and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if I ever come back.
Awesome time at JPL for birthday weekend Very clean and inviting - only wish is that when booking for 3 people in a room they would put 3 wine glasses, 3 coffee cups in the room as well especially when booking in advance and waiting for the room on arrival Prices are expensive for food and drink
"Not Very Good This Time"
We have been going to JPL for years, especially in the winter when we like to ski at Marmot. Have always loved it because of the friendliness of the staff, the location and amenities, and had given it either a 4 or 5 stars out of 5. The last few times we stayed at JPL (last couple of years) we started to experience some problems. Besides some inattentiveness of the restaurant service staff, the main problem was with housekeeping. We checked out of Room 150 (Junior Suite) on Saturday Feb-3 at noon and it was late that day when I discovered that I had left my cell phone charger still plugged to the wall by the bed. I called Monday morning and was told that there was no phone charger turned-in. After checking out, the housekeeping staff is supposed to check and clean the room. I can only come to two conclusions: either the staff was not paying attention, and so the next guest took it, OR the staff found it and did not turn it over to Lost and Found. In either case it does not reflect well on the hotel service. At this point I have to mention again ~last year, I left my Microsoft Surface Laptop behind when checking out. When I called the hotel that evening I was told that they did find it but never bothered to call me or send me a message. That day I had friends staying behind skiing and if the hotel had bothered to call me I could have asked my friends to pick it up for me the same day. The explanation by the hotel manager was that it is not their policy to call guests for items left behind. I understand that it makes sense for small items like a pair of shoes, toiletries or clothing. If a guest leaves behind a passport or plane ticket or a computer, it is BAD policy not to alert the guest right away. That is what "service" is all about. that time I had to pay the hotel a fee to have the laptop sent back to me. That is unacceptable for a world-class hotel like Fairmont. So is this time. Also this time we had buffet breakfast on Saturday ~9am. The male staff who took us to the table, snickered loudly when my friend said "oh it is a lovely view outside". Perhaps he thought this was the first time we ever stayed at JLP. Our regular staff was average at best: plates piling up and not clearing them, and no pot of coffee left on the table ... just small things like that.
