"Engagement Wedding Bliss"
I loved everything about this hotel. The hot tub on the roof, the rustic dining area, right down to the amazing food. Although the rooms don't have tv and the wifi isn't vey fast, they have a game room, a common area and lots of outdoor actives.
It was a great time for my husband and I and my parents over the Family Day long weekend. Upon check-in we were given rooms that were just not going to cut the mustard - tiny double beds in a dark, tiny rooms along super noisy, high traffic hallways (and you can hear EVERYTHING - the floors creak and the walls are thin!). We immediately asked for an upgrade and were given a great deal with the last 2 rooms available in the hotel, which happened to be on the 3rd floor of the "turret". They were a huge improvement - room to breathe, great views of the mountains in 2 different windows that opened to allow fresh air in, queen size beds, a sitting area and an airmoire for our clothes. Much quieter, less traffic area up there as well! Really appreciate the upgrade! The downsides, no matter what room you're - the doors are old and don't close properly, they have an old boiler system that doesn't regulate heat (it's pretty warm in the rooms!) and the walls are quite thin. Perhaps the hotel could invest in some fans for guest rooms!! The upsides - the beds are fairly comfortable and they use nice L'Occitane products in the bathroom. The shower pressure was great, nice hot water, and organic coffee and some tea available in the rooms. The restaurant (and the service) is excellent. You've got to try the french toast at breakfast and I had a wonderful ribeye steak for dinner - although it could have been served a bit warmer. I suspect it sat under a heat lamp a few minutes too long. The best parts of Deer Lodge are the beautiful, charming fireplace with sitting area to enjoy the fire, and the beautiful, rustic bar around the corner - grab a beer after a long day of skiing and read a book by the fire. That and the outstanding breakfast! The hot tub on the roof would be awesome if it was just a few degrees warmer! Certainly a beautiful setting and nice to have that hot tub and the sauna after a ski day. They are also a 5 minute walk away from the Chateau, and 10 minutes from the ski hill by car. Can't beat the location and the charm. I would definitely stay there again for a ski weekend!
"Awesome hot tub"
We go for the hot tub mostly. The setting there is amazing. We x-country ski right from the hotel which is nice. Small rooms and small beds, but that adds to the charm :) Buffet breakfast was just ok - dried out a bit.
"Cute & Cozy"
We stayed in the deer lodge in both summer & winter. The accommodation is a large log style building, which suits the surrounding here to a tee. The rooms are a decent size and are furnished in keeping with the rustic charm of the property. The rooms have no TV but there is a games room in the basement. There is also laundry facilities. Parking is free and so is the Wi-Fi. There is a restaurant on the premises and also a more laid back bar style menu aswell. The Lodge is not walking distance to Lake Louise Village so you will need a car. However the lodge is walking distance to Lake Louise which is about a 5 minute walk, and the Fairmont is also just down the road. The lodge has a hot tub up on the roof which gives the most amazing view of the Lake and mountains in the back. Perfect in both winter and summer. I love this property and its charm. I would recommend this property over others in the area. It is half the price of others and is just a 5 min walk to the lake.
"Quaint little lodge very close to the lake"
We stayed here for 3 nights and loved the proximity to the lake. It was within walking distance of all the different kinds of activities you can do there. The only bad thing was that there was no kettle in our room to make tea :( all in all was a good stay
