The location is very good, a few miles away from the Louise Lake. As the hotel is a historic building, there is no lift in the building, but the staff is very kind, who help us to carry our luggages. I am unsatified the food quality of the restaurant, the steak was overcooked, and the price is higher than the restaurant in Fairmont.
"dirty and expensive"
room 212 was tiny, two single beds, would be difficult to push together, two small tables and lights and a minature bathroom which needed a deep clean, hair and rubbish left on floor which has mouldy grouting as well as mould and staining on the ceiling. There is no TV, phone, case stand or accessible plugs for charging except in the bathroom. The hotel does not have a lift. Cost of this room Can$ 229! The whole hotel needs a major refurbishment to bring it out of the 1920s when it was built
"Terrible stay at this hotel"
We had our worst experience at this hotel. The room is very old, the queen size bed is very old, not even flat, and the bath tub looks so old and dirty. The bathroom the smallest one I saw! The worst was they forgot the room cleaning and we had to call twice to get some clean towels! The restaurant's food is very limited, and the quality was the worst. Except the location, nothing was good. We have told all our friends never book this hotel.
The location is the best part about this place a 10 minute walk to Lake Louise. Old Lodge which is quaint, but seems to be mis managed. There restaurant management needs improvement and more staff! Your service staff also need some improvement. Who ever is in charge of the coffee/ tea service in Lady Agness room needs to be more attentive. Only 5 travel cups the first day, none the second. When paying for this much for a hotel one would expect all the service staff to look more presentable instead of baggy pants, t shirts and a housekeeper running around in his socks listening to a talk show on his phone about Psychopaths . The hallway to the laundry room has a big sign that says keep clear. there was just a narrow space to walk through the whole time we were there because of housekeeping carts. I'm sure the fire Marshall would not like this.
"Poorly maintained staffed"
We arrived at 3.45 pm and were told that check in was at 4pm, so to go away and come back when the room was ready - with not even an offer of storing cases and bags. I can't believe that our room was not ready 15 minutes early and it seems that the policy is not flexible. We took everything back to the car and went for a walk to the lake and to view the Fairmont (our first choice of hotel but fully booked and we thought that this heritage hotel would be fun). When we returned we were told that our room was on the 3rd floor and that there was no elevator - eventually a porter came and collected our cases, but, I felt, under sufferance. We had booked a heritage room but this appeared to be in a newer part of the building and to get to it we had to go up what appeared to be a staff staircase, next to two trolleys of laundry and a vacuum cleaner left in a corridor. The corridors were dark and gloomy and in need of decoration and the stair carpet was old, dirty and wrinkled so dangerous. The carpet in the room was stained and when I went in to the bathroom I found a wet and dirty face cloth left on the bath. So much for housekeeping. The room was gloomy and did not match what I would perceive as heritage and I question whether we were given the correct room. The balcony overlooked the main road, and a stream and was fine apart from being dirty and with peeling paint - though this appears to be the norm. We ate dinner in the restaurant and found the food good but service dreadful. The waitress threw plates on to the table and knocked over a glass of wine which we had to clear up with a napkin. She didn't offer to help or to replace the wine and we had to purchase another glass!!!!! She appeared to enjoy speaking French with another table and did not have time for us. Breakfast was not a lot better with a new waitress who couldn't explain things and could not offer just a pastry and coffee since this was not on the menu! I did not want a full buffet but was charge for a full one. In the morning there was no hot water for a shower and upon check out the receptionist claimed that she had only just been informed and restarted the boiler. We left having has cold showers and an unsatisfactory experience. Our bill was incorrect by $150 over - apparently the waitress had added this as a tip. Be warned since mistakes can happen. The biggest pluses are location since you can walk to Lake Louise and the laundry. We sued this but found it almost by accident down staff stairs and past a staff room and housekeeping. There is a games room but it seems as if the staff are the main users and there are limited games to play and a TV that didn't work. Since there are no TVs in the rooms it would have been good to have seen some news. Would we return? Not after this chapter of disasters with no apologies or compensation for wine spilt.
