"Cozy vintage look walking distance from the lake."
We stayed her for 2 nights in the standard queen bed room. initially we were surprised by the look and size of the room, it was pretty small according to our expectations and very vintage look. later i learnt that the property is over a 100 years old and the management has done a lot to retain the same vintage look. no TV in the room. but this place has a totally different feel to it. loved the antique common fire place and living room. they have a nice games and TV room with a pool table and many more games. the outdoor hot tub during the winter was a memorable experience. the breakfast room has an amazing view of the mountains. special thanks to Kayla and Larry for taking care of our special dietary restriction during breakfast. over had an an amazing experience and will definitely stay here again.
"A few tweaks would make "good enough" "great"!"
The enthusiasm of the staff, the environment (both within the facility and proximity to the lake) and the cost/benefit balance make this a sweat location. Don't know if the patrons when we were there were typical, but the place felt like home.
If you're in Lake Louise, forget the other restaurants and head to the Deer Lodge, superb!! It's as good as the Post House, less formal and the menu more interesting, all priced reasonably, and cooked and served perfectly!
"Visit with family of all ages-children up to seniors"
Deer Lodge was a great stay. There is a newer part and older part of the hotel. I wish we had known that when we booked. I would have preferred to stay in the newer part b/c it was away from the high traffic area and a bit quieter with the kiddos. The staff was great and very helpful. It is a short walk away from Fairmount Hotel. Hot tub was great! Free coffee in the Agnes room until 11am. We ended up staying an extra night b/c we wanted more time with family and the manager went above and beyond in order to keep us in the same room so we didn't have to move all our belongings into another room! Restaurant and lounge both had delicious food! Kids meal portions are quite big-could probably have let our 6 year old and 4 year old share one meal. Approx. 5 min drive to Lake Louise ski hill. The snow tubing with the kids was VERY enjoyable!!! Try it!! Thanks for the memorable stay!
"A great place to stay"
The hotel is a lovely building in a wonderful setting only a couple of minutes walk from the lake. The rooms are very basic (no TV for example) but clean and comfortable. Heating works very well (too well perhaps) as even on the low setting we had the window wide open even though it was -32 C outside! There is an outdoor rooftop Hot Tub which once we were in was amazing however you have to be very brave and careful getting to. The walkway was thick in ice so you have to balance between walking fast enough so your feet don't stick to it and slow enough not to slip over! The steps are very precarious too as they were very icy! I do think that it's a little dangerous and that the management should look at something to keep the path clear (running hot pipes from the hot tub under the walkway for example) to make this safer. The food was amazing although a little pricey - however for somewhere so close to the lake and for the type of the hotel, it's what I expected and was happy to pay what they were asking. The staff were amazing - so friendly and helpful and we had a great conversation with the bar maid. Would definitely stay here again.
