"A great Tofino experience"

We stayed at the Pacific Sands in a luxury beach house for four nights. It was a terrific experience in wonderful accommodations on a fabulous beach.. the amenities were great. The kitchen fully equipped and the entire house was very clean. We found the staff to be pleasant and accommodating. Fabulous sunsets on Cox Bay. Couldn't have asked for more.

"Great getaway"

We have stayed at Pacific Sands many times over the last twenty seven years and we love going there. Beautiful beach, ocean and wild scenery. There has been a lot of changes over that time frame...new buildings and updated guest services but the amazing location is always there! We had a maintenance issue that resulted in the necessity of the suite to be closed to deal with the problem. We were promptly offered another suite and the staff assisted us in moving our things. Very professional and understanding. The Surf shack was new to us and had great food. I hope they don't build a restaurant on site as I like the secluded feel. The kitchens in the suite are adequate and you can borrow from guest services if you need more cookware. You can request housekeeping by putting the sign out and we felt looked after. Staff all friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back again.

"Best place on the West Coast"

Pacific Sands has been and continues to be the very best place to enjoy the West Coast of Vancouver Island. I have been going to this resort for over 30 years and every time becomes a memorable experience. They consistently provide exceptional service and beautiful accommodation for either a visit with the family or a quiet time with just two of us.

"Solo retreat in September"

I have visited Pacific Sands many, many times over the years and watched them grow from a small beachfront hotel to the resort we see today with lots of variations on room configurations, an onsite restaurant, fire pits, bbq gazebos throughout the property and hammocks to relax in. They are now adding another 40+ units that I understand will be two and three bedrooms. Pacific Sands is my recommendation as the only place to stay on Cox Bay. It's not because of all the things I mentioned just here. It's because the staff believe in customer service. They welcome you in, provide whatever you need and are exceptional. I arrived at the desk after a long morning catching a ferry and driving across the island. I was told that they had upgraded me to one of their upscale two bedroom beach houses. I was stunned. So, for three days I got to sit in the upstairs king bedded room watching the waves from my armchair and the sunrises and sunsets from my balconies. A jetted tub in the corner provided the ultimate in relaxation watching and listening to the sound of the ocean. It was truly a blessing. Thank you Pacific Sands!

"Overpriced, mediocre resort"

We stayed at Pacific Sands for three nights during a weeklong stay on Vancouver Island. First off, the resort is located on a gorgeous section of BC coastline, with a huge sandy beach and a rocky and rugged but accessible hike to a beautiful scenic point with tide pools and a mini rain forest. Those natural amenities are the draw to this resort, but that's where the beauty ends. For the price, Pacific Sands offers mediocre amenities. This is an all-suite facility -- there are no full service restaurants on the site (a rustic beach shack is the only meal option on the property), so cooking in or eating at a local restaurant are the only options and Tofino is a 10 minute drive. We planned to eat dinners in, but our unit was equipped with low end cookware and utensils. We attempted one meal in our unit and gave up. Housekeeping is spotty, and this is a repeated and common theme through all of the reviews of this property. The housekeeping staff actually skipped out unit on our final full day, which was amazing, considering the per night rate. Bikes are available for guest use, but there is a $15 or $30 charge, which seemed like a nuisance given the high cost of staying here. Although the beach is beautiful, this resort simply lacks the customer service and amenities of a high end resort. Construction of the new buildings continues and our unit was close to that noisy area. If we come back to Tofino, we'll try another option, and there are many to choose from.
