Was visiting friends for a couple of days and decided to stay here to try it out. Was really worth the stay. The views are amazing here. The rooms were also very large. The service was a bit slow but I was fine with it. Would recommend staying in the hotel but see if the dining room is full first or book ahead of time.
"Really Special Property"
Stayed here during recent trip to see Victoria for first time. Chose because of quiet in the bay location & proximity to Butchart Gardens. Room was gorgeous-fireplace, sliding door to large private deck overlooking bag, ferry to cross bay at doorstep, complimentary sparkling cider on arrival, in room jacuzzi, robes, chocolate chip cookies in room on arrival along with fresh flowers, nicely stocked frig. Would stay again without reservation. Service in dining room Friday evening slow and would like to recommend some attention to gardening, e.g. rake leaves along path bayside & plant some flowers & additional plants.
"Setting is beautiful service was not."
We got there an hour or so before closing. We got seated on the patio and it was a perfect setting. The view was beautiful and the setting was friendly. Our waitress on the other hand was not. We had said a few other guests were coming and she seemed fine with that. We ordered just a couple of appy's. Around 30 min prior to restaurant closing we asked to order and she said the staff in the kitchen had already gone home and there was nothing for us to order. She never gave aheads up nor did she make any attempt to inform us that the kitchen would be closing. She was cold and seemed uncaring. Will not go back. The bartender was friendly and that was the only redeeming quality of the staff. If it wasn't for the view this place would have got a zero.
The dining room at the Brentwood Bay Resort was recommended by friends as an excellent place for dinner. There were three of us at the table, two visiting and the third a local resident. What was meant to be a special evening was spoiled by some less than average quality dishes consistently turned out by the kitchen. We had settled on two beet salads and an order of small oysters (can't remember the name but the waiter explained the choice was either a small or a larger variety). The beet salads were bland, with very little flavor. As for the oysters, after having chosen the smaller variety, I was presented with three small and three large. Go figure. When I pointed this out to the waiter, I received an unintelligible answer. The oysters appeared fresh though, and I enjoyed them. We selected the mussels and frites, and the sable fish with fingerling potatoes and vegetables as our mains. The mussels were tasty. The frites were undercooked. The sablefish was just okay, but my wife complained that there were a lot of potatoes. We ordered a blueberry tart in flaky pastry with ice cream to share for dessert - here the kitchen staff gets full marks for consistency as the "flaky" pastry was not flaky but undercooked and solid. All in all, not a very satisfying Saturday evening dinner in Brentwood Bay.
"Beautiful and Peaceful "
Spent two nights in a villa at this lovely hotel. Expensive but well worth it. Two bedrooms with a den like room with a pull out couch. Very modern and a large deck overlooking Brentwood Bay and small marina. The food in the restaurant was delicious, especially the sushi. The service in both the pub and restaurant was not great. But hats off to the manager of the restaurant who helped wherever he was needed!
