Over Tsa-Kwa-Luten Lodge

"A Very Pleasant Suprise"

Thankfully, it was end of season, as it was nice and quiet. Because the place is soo great, I could imagine that in season, the place would be heaving, simply because it is in such a great position. We had a lovely cabin on the front (402). Brilliant, and very well appointed. Rather liked the deer that wander around right up against the cabin. I can't speak for the rooms in the hotel. Food was OK as was the service. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

"Wonderful two night stay"

We had a wonderful quiet two nights. Very much enjoyed our stay. Staff very professional helpful and friendly. Our room was clean, bright, a bit too warm. We opened the window but chose to not leave the door open in case mosquitos, flies and bugs flew in. Even though we did not have restful sleep, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The food was very delicious and so well presented, that I ate all that was on my plate. Cannot wait for our next stay - hope maybe in early spring. Oh, all the rooms face the ocean, so every guest has a view.

"Stunning lodge owned and situated on First Nations land"

This has been a favourite for many years. Whether it is with friends or family it is always a wonder getaway spot. The lodge is situated on First Nation land and is owned by them. The lobby is fashioned after a great gathering room with giant lodge pole posts and timbers. The. Views of the ocean are stunning. When Alaska bound cruise ships go by they are so close you can hear music from the lounges. The diningroom at the lodge also features huge windows. The trees in front are favourites for the local Eagles. This morning we saw sea lions cavorting out front and on a previous visit we were fortunate enough to be entertained by whales during dinner. The food staff presents a wonderful array of menu items that showcase local foods and favourites. The only problem with the food is looking at your weigh scale when you go home. Everything is so good and beautifully presented. The rooms carry the casual theme and include beautiful art. There are miles of shoreline to explore and a world class museum in nearby Cape Mudge Village. The National Museum in Ottawa returned an extensive collection of Potlach items that belonged in this village and they built a wonderful museum to display it. If you love tranquility this is the place! The only negative in a heat wave is that there is no air conditioning but you are on a beautiful small island and it doesn't seem that important.

"Always wanted to stay here."

The Lodge was recommended to me 15 years ago and finally a small group of us went. We had 2 nights accommodations which were fine (rooms could do with a make-over) the meals are excellent and they had good wine specials. The location is awesome and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely book again.

"Beautiful Building, Nothing Else"

We stayed at the lodge as part of an eco-tourism package. We have stayed here before and nothing has improved. Our stay was in late September and our room 316 was at the end of the building and up a narrow flight of stairs. This was a bit of a challenge as we are both seniors and suffer mobility issues. No offer was made to assist with our luggage. The room was HOT, 35 C or 96 F with one little fan and no air conditioning. We requested another room (206) which was on the main floor and slightly cooler but it had two fans. Again no assistance with moving our luggage. Rooms are eco-inspired with no TV, no air conditioning, no soap for the shower no screens on the door and windows. Ice is only available from the bar. Wasps liked the room more than we did. The balcony was in disrepair and it would not be wise to lean on the railing. It appears that nothing has been repaired or repainted since the lodge was initially built. The main room in the lodge is beautiful and comfortable. It is a lovely place for cocktails, appetizers and conversation. The Native art was well chosen. It would be wonderful to just visit this room of the lodge. Dining did not meet reasonable expectations. It took an hour form ordering food until the first entrees did not arrive for about an hour, were brought one plate at a time at significant intervals and our food was nicely plated but quite cold when it arrived. There are better places to stay and dine on Quadra Island.
