Vancouver, de Gateway van de Pacific, is een van de populairste steden ter wereld. En niet voor niets. Vancouver is tevens uitvalsbasis voor een (auto-)reis door het westen van Canada of voor een uitstapje naar Vancouver Island.
Stayed for 5 days and everything about the hotel was absolutely great! Room was large, Bathroom was excellent with great lighting. Great gym, but a little dark. Service all around was excellent as well, especially the concierge team who greeted us at the entrance! We had a small party in the lounge on our last night and the servers were lovely! All around a wonderful stay and will definitely return. Only odd bit was every time we exited the elevators at the lobby level, there was a very odd smell (smelt like the exhaust from the kitchen was blowing directly towards the area...).
"Did not meet my expectation"
After reading many great reviews of this hotel, we decided to stay at Fairmont PR while visiting Vancouver. Perhaps my expectation was too high (after all it is ranking #2 based on TripAdvisor's reviews), I felt quite disappointed after my 4-night stay. Pros: 1. Great location--the hotel is within walking distance to Gastown, Canada Place, Robson Street and a few SkyTrain stations. It's also close to the harbor, which is a good neighborhood and we feel safe walking around at night. 2. Very friendly and helpful staff--we asked for toothbrush set and replacement of blow dryer, they were both delivered to our room within 15 minutes. 3. Easy check-in/check-out--I tried the express check-in, which was just a few clicks on your phone. All you need to do is to confirm your arrival time so the staff can prepare the room and keys prior to your arrival. Cons: 1. No free WiFi--Free WiFi should be a very standard amenity nowadays in my opinion so I was surprised Fairmont PR did not offer it. You do have the option of connecting to the internet with "Business Access" by paying hourly rate or daily rate but I ended up using my pocket WiFi. 2. The room--We were staying at the standard room on the 8th floor, our room was facing to a few office buildings and we can clearly see what people were doing there (meaning they can see us clearly as well? Lol) We had to keep the drapes closed most of the time and the lighting was too dim in the room. They have definitely done some upgrades on the bathroom (rain shower, TV fitted in the mirror) but the room seems to be a bit outdated. We couldn't adjust the TV volume and the ipad/tablet provided in our room was not working either. 3. Room service--I've ordered room service a lot at different hotels but this is the first time I got charged both "delivery fee" and 18% gratuity for in-room dining. I did not know gratuity was included in the bill so I also tipped the staff with cash.
"Stunning Hotel in a Perfect Location"
I stayed here for a conference in early December. This hotel is just a beautifully designed and appointed hotel. The front lobby was inviting, warm and lively. The rooms were spacious, modern, quiet and luxurious. I found the television on the mirror in the bathroom was interesting, although not particularly useful. I loved the espresso choices in the morning, and the remote controlled lights and curtains were almost too easy to use. We borrowed bikes to go to Stanley Park and they were equipped with water, a map and a bike lock and helmet. The location of the hotel could not be any more perfect. We walked all over the downtown area, and the view in the mornings was fantastic. I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed my five day stay in this hotel!
I stayed at this hotel for a conference in early December. From the moment I walked in, I was taken. This is just a beautifully designed hotel in every way. The rooms were spacious, modern and stunningly gorgeous. I appreciated the espresso machine each morning, and the iPad-operated lights. The lobby always felt warm and lively; especially so on the first snow day of the year. The staff went above and beyond; we borrowed two bicycles to bike around Stanley Park one afternoon, and the concierge seemed to conjure up the second one from nowhere - like magic - after being told that there was only one available. They equipped the bikes with bottles of water, maps, bike locks and keys, and made sure we knew where and how we were going. I also really loved the selection of espressos each morning. I am not sure I would be able to afford to stay here again - the conference rates made it affordable - but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.
"Modern Amenities. Great Location. Everything you could ask for in a Hotel"
Love this hotel. Television in bathroom mirror to catch up on morning news while getting ready for the day. Comfortable and Clean. Located within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. There is a great lobby bar to gather with friends or business associates. Bikes and cars are available if you go a little further than walking distance. Staff is extremely helpful. Highly recommended. Would love to return and stay for another visit.
