"The live music in the fragrant lobby is just one of many reasons to stay here"
We stayed four nights on the 20th floor in a room overlooking the city not the bay. We took advantage of a special deal on the gold standard rooms which meant we enjoyed the use of the Gold lounge and its afternoon snacks, early evening canapés and 8pm line up of incredible desserts. Patricia made us so welcome on the first night we went back every night. Alcohol isn't gratis and a glass of wine will set you back 17 dollars, but you can make it a large one. The view from up here of the bay and mountains makes for a nice start to the day and the breakfast selection is excellent. The room was super comfy and the bathroom enormous. My only gripe is that there aren't enough hooks in the bathroom for four towels and it was a little warm at night, even with the air-conditioning down low. If you're a Fairmont member the bicycles are free and you can cycle from here all the way round Stanley Park. They also have a courtesy car to take you down to the Granville island ferry and from Granville you can take the False Creek ferry service to the Science Centre, which is terrific. The lobby is spectacular and there is daily live music in the ground floor bar, which makes the hotel a hard place to leave. We had dinner in the Botanist restaurant and enjoyed the musician there too. It makes for such an enjoyable change from the usual piped music. There's also very good inexpensive pasta and pizza to be had in the adjacent Giovanni cafe. We loved this hotel - my daughter would like to take up residence!
"Beautiful views on the harbor. Well appointed rooms and good breakfast options"
I was upgraded to a harbor view room on the 10th floor. Views are superb, but I had a serious problem with the air conditioning because the first night there was no heat. Repeated calls to reception didn’t bring the engineers to look at the problem, until I personally went down to the lobby to complain. Even then, it took several hours for the problem to be fixed. Otherwise the hotel is an excellent choice for an stay in downtown Vancouver.
"So close.....but no cigar!"
We stayed here for several nights. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the size of the room, a little too small for three adults and one child. So we asked for a larger room. The only room that was available was a club suite. While costing almost twice the amount, we opted for the upgrade. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is beautiful if you like clean lines and a modern and sleek hotel. The staff were very professional and friendly and I absolutely loved the uniforms of the ladies in the Lobby Lounge. But there were a few, minor shortcomings for me. Noting we paid an extraordinary amount for the room, we were disappointed with these minor flaws. First was housekeeping. I know this is pedantic but when paying as much as we did and noting this is a 5 star hotel, the bath mats should line up neatly in the bathroom, the tags should be tucked underneath and the bed valance should not have been hitched up into the sheets. It is minor and small issues but shows there is a lack of attention to detail. The club was lovely but far too modern and sterile looking and alcohol was not included (except for first glass). All other hotels where I have stayed in the club room have included at least beer and wine. I did think the hotel beautiful and we took advantage of the bike hire to ride around beautiful Stanley Park and we were very grateful for the personal chauffeur to drive us into the city and to the train station when we departed. I know my remarks are minimal, but I think when paying upward of $750 per night, you expect the absolute best! Lovely but likely we will try somewhere different next time.
"Best Hotel ever!"
What an amazing stay! This was a next level experience for sure! Such attention to detail! We absolutely loved everything about this place, from being greeted and told if we need anything 24 hours a day to give them a call, to the ipad controls for the lights, curtains, etc., to the bikes for sight seeing, to the prime location and amazing view, and everything in between! Can't say enough great things about this place! Definitely our new go to, I would live there if I could!!
"Take me back"
This hotel does everything right--just everything! The room itself was gorgeous, clean and modern. Our room was overlooking the pool and also had a patio featuring an electronic fireplace, so we could enjoy watching the mountains in the backdrop over morning coffee. The Smart controls in the room make everything easy and fun. There's a digital screen in your bathroom mirror. Coolness exemplified. The hotel offers complementary car service in a luxury vehicle and BMW bikes in excellent condition. We took advantage of both. The location couldn't be better. Close to the bike path leading to Stanley Park and walking distance to the free Capilano Bridge shuttle. The room service was scrumptious, and the dining at the ridiculously pretty Botanist was unbelievably good. If you are an American Express Platinum holder and book this hotel via your card, you get to enjoy breakfast here for free every morning. There's no limit to how much breakfast you want. It is taken care of. What a deal! Live music every night. There's always a lively buzz happening in the lobby. The spa is available to guests, even without service. Cuddling up in the outdoor relaxation area overlooking the city with a cup of tea in your hands is a perfect way to either start or end your day. Wow. We can't wait to go back.
