"Great views, questionable service"
I don’t think there are better views possible in Vancouver. Right on the harbour, facing the mountains and Stanley Park are an unbeatable combination. The location right downtown in Canada Place is fantastic. The bed was comfy and the room was nice. However, the service at this hotel left something to be desired. Particularly the room cleaning and room service. On the first point: during a 7 night stay, at least 3 times the room want completely cleaned. A particular example is that coffee spill over stains stayed on the counter. Additionally, I literally had to put anything in the garbage can for it to be taken away, even the pizza box that didn’t fit (it was left on the counter, empty, for 2 days). On the second point: the price point for food was a little over the top. Granted Vancouver is an expensive city, however 24$ for bacon and eggs, is a bit excessive, particularly when you add 6$ delivery, 18% gravity and tax. Despite the cost, one day I decided I wanted it anyway. It was professionally delivered by a very jovial person, but when I sat down to enjoy my “luxurious meal†I was flabbergasted to find a broken egg, the other egg’s yolk 75% cooked (ordered over easy), extremely dry bacon, and very greasy hash browns. Additionally, the toast wasn’t buttered, and was too cold by delivery time to butter. Normally, I don’t complain about these issues, but for about 36$ (once all fees included) I was quite insulted. I called the service line and they said they’d send another plate up, with their apologies. That plate took 45 minutes to arrive...
As I had advised Reservations that the occasion was my Mom's 90th birthday, they assured me that they would make it special! We were given a room on the 18th floor with a magnificent, panoramic harbour view and a beautiful birthday cake! The room was very spacious and the beds wonderfully comfortable with several lush, plump pillows. I wish we had been able to take advantage of the heated swimming pool and hot tub, as we saw guests enjoying them!
Its all about location and services. Skytrain station and sea wall walkway are right outside the hotel. Convient food court is access the street and is accessible via underground walk away connection in the convention centre. Rental car service in the hotel offered competitive rates. The rooms were clean and the view was great. Staff were accommodating and there is a day spa.
"Pan Pacific, Vancouver"
This hotel is in the ideal location for a long weekend or similar stay in Vancouver. It is easy walking distance from anything and everything there is to do and see. The windows look out over the port and all the business going on there. The staff at the front and concierge desks are very helpful, especially Emily who provided suggested places to see and several excellent restaurant selections. On one, she even suggested three or four favorite entrees - all delicious. The prices are reasonable for the location and amenities.
"Excellent stay in Club rooms with amazing views!"
We stayed at the Pan Pacific for a week in July and really couldn't fault it. We booked 3 club rooms for 6 adults and 2 infants. Club rooms are on 2 floors at the top of the hotel. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the service was impeccable. All staff were friendly and polite and couldn't do enough to help. On arrival one of our party decided they wanted to change their room so they could have a seating area and more space for the children. Our concierge were wonderful and managed to swap the room even though they were fully booked that day. The concierge were professional at all times and nothing was too much trouble, remembering and addressing us by our family name when they saw us. The rooms were well decorated with modern bathrooms and they were spotless. Bottled water, tea and coffee is provided in the rooms and there is a turn down service. Room facilities were very good and the only issue we found was the bed surround. A very hard surround protruding slightly and we all managed to, rather painfully, bang our shins against it on several occasions. We are aware that the cleaners wear shin pads when cleaning the rooms to avoid this! This design does need to be looked at as it is not pleasant for a luxury room to cause injury. I bruised and cut my shin on it as did the others in our party. Just be aware. This is the only reason I haven't given it an 'Excellent' rating. The Club Lounge overlooks the swimming pool and harbour where you can also watch the sea planes landing and taking off and the cruise ships docking. There is a beautiful view. Breakfast is served in the lounge with snacks being available throughout the day. You may help yourself to soft drinks and tea and coffee all day free of charge with one free alcoholic beverage allowed per day. Anytime we spent in the hotel was in the Club Lounge. We did eat breakfast in the main restaurant once where there is more choice on offer but we preferred the Club Lounge. You feel like you are in a small boutique hotel with a personal service on the Club levels. I thoroughly recommend. Great location for exploring the city.
