Vancouver, de Gateway van de Pacific, is een van de populairste steden ter wereld. En niet voor niets. Vancouver is tevens uitvalsbasis voor een (auto-)reis door het westen van Canada of voor een uitstapje naar Vancouver Island.
"Great on the inside and Great location!"
We paid extra for an ocean view suite (kitchen, 1 king size bd room, and bathroom). These apartments appear to be newly renovated, or within the last 12 months. Excellant room with balcony to small outside balcony and great, clean, well maintained room.. The location of this hotel is also very handy to the Davies St village as well as Robson village and Bute st. plus Downtown Vancouver and a small walk to the aquabus that will take you to Granville Island. The reception and house staff were very friendly and helpful, to the point that we arrived very early from a long haul flight and our room was cleaned asap and we checked in early. Very much appreciated this. Many great eateries around this hotel also. I will return to the Sandman on future trips and will not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
Chose this hotel as it had a separate bedroom and also a kitchen. Paid extra for ocean view. Found the hotel to be old and rooms quite small for the price we paid. Over $300 a night is quite expensive in our country and I would expect a modern luxurious room for that. Location was good as there are a lot of restaurants and shops nearby. We were on the 23rd floor and could still hear traffic noise with the balcony door open. Washer-dryer was handy to have but the shortest cycle takes over 4.5 hours. Reception area is quite dark and dingy, we had to wait quite a while each time we went there as the staff were always busy. Cab to the airport cost $32 from this location in the city. The bed was large and comfortable, bathroom was a very dated shower over the bath tub and extremely small and not well lit. I probably would not stay at this hotel again, too expensive for the quality of accommodation provided.
"Very nice room"
Suite was clean and well maintained. Enjoyed having the kitchen area and the balcony. The front desk was very helpful. Took care of our requests very fast and with a smile. Highly recommended. Close to beach and downtown. Able to walk to Granville Island.
"Practical and clean "
Great location downtown. 20 minutes from skytrain to airport. Rooms have kitchens completely outfitted with dishes and cooking pots and pans. Smaller rooms but normal for downtown Vancouver. Very clean. TV in the bedroom and main room. Laundry in the room. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. Very close to St Paul's Hospital
"Definite improvements since our last stay."
There were a few minor maintenance issues last time we stayed here, and not only have they been sorted out, but the price of staying actually went down. That was because of a special deal where, because we stayed seven or more days consecutively, the daily rate was significantly reduced. In fact, it was reduced to the point that it was well worthwhile to leave the three suites we were occupying vacant for a couple of days while the family visited Vancouver Island. The whole experience was a plus, with very friendly and efficient front desk staff, helpful housekeeping people and the terrifically convenient Davie Street neighbourhood which is among the most interesting sections of downtown Vancouver. Parking is on the "interesting" side. Underground and secured garage, but a bit on the tight side if you're driving anything big, but it's okay if you're a little patient and, for Vancouver, it's dirt cheap. Moxie's Restaurant is attached and it's a good one, Denny's is a block down the street. For the younger crowd the Capital Cafe is just a few doors away, a liquor store across the street and around the corner, fresh vegetables next to the hotel, a good pizza place, a donair take out which makes massive meals, a good bakery and a drug store are nearby, and I doubt there's a more convenient location in all of Vancouver. We've been at the Sandman on Davie before; we'll be back.
