"Best harbor view"
Great view of the waterfront and the city from the 19th floor. Great location. Nice hotel with a kitchen. Room was very cleanness and had been updated. Very trendy neighborhood. Staff was very friendly. I would stay here again.
We stayed here as part of a tour to Canadian Rockies , the suites were very spacious and everything in them you need , we were 2 single girls and one had the bed and other on put you up bed which was really comfy , love the idea that the lift only works with your door key which is very safe , pool area great with a heater when you get out of the pool (sun wasn't there then so you needed heater ) then sun came out and was great , the only downfall was it was a gay/lesbein area ( not that that bothers me in slightest ) but wasn't anyway really close to hotel to go for a drink , the bar attached to hotel were really friendly and chatty
"Good value accommodation in a good location"
We had 2 nights here, the main entrance needs a makeover as quite dated and dark, however the front desk service was very good, friendly helpful staff. We had our suits on the 23rd floor which gave us excellent views over Vancouver. The suits were well kept, clean and the facilities were great. Comfy bed, air conditioning, kitchen including fridge and dishwasher plus washing machine ensure that the suits are a good base for a trip to Vancouver. The are within easy walking access to the centre of the city, waterfront Granville island. There is also onsite secure parking at an additional cost.
"6 Long Days"
This was a work trip and because it would have taken so many authorizations to switch hotels, I stayed put, however, if this was a personal trip, during the first night I would have been searching for another place to move to immediately. As with all my reviews, let me start with the positive; staff, location and having a kitchen in the room. I arrived early from the East only to find out that check-in was not until 4pm (gone are the good days of 2-3pm check-in times) and by 1pm I flopped on a chair in the lobby to wait. Shortly after, I saw a man coming in with his suitcase, expecting him to shortly join me on the couch for the next three hours but no, he was handed a key and off he went to a room! I went over to inquire and the clerk realized I saw what had happened, a room appeared--thank you sir for checking in otherwise I would have been there right until 4. Otherwise, the staff was polite and they did try to work with me on the smoking issue. If you read any of my other reviews one theme will stand out: I hate smoke. At check-in there was a production made, initials and all, about adhering to the non-smoking policy but really, it is not worth wasting ink from the pen. The next morning I asked to be assured that the smoke coming into my unit would not be billed to me as a cleaning charge when I departed and the man was nice enough to write a note to file. By day three my lungs were burning so I was offered another room to look at. This one had a smell of urine, reminding me of cats when they mark their territory, so that was my option: deal with the smoke or put up with urine. As the elevator stopped on other floors and the smell of smoke entered, I knew that there was no point so I just stayed put. The kitchen was stocked with cooking utensils, plates and cutlery so this was great for me. As for the rest, I think many other reviewers covered it. The common hallway carpets, and even parts of the room itself, had embedded stains; the balcony door where they met in the middle had a large gap so the cold air would come in with the little heater unit from the bedroom not being able to keep up; there were stains and remnants of "things" on the bathroom door; a silver bug with antlers danced across the bathroom one night which prompted me to shake all my clothing and inspect my suitcases before packing; and the bedroom really is not functional--best to rip down the wall to create an airy feel because the bed took up the majority of the room and due to that one side, the easy one to get in on, was sagging on one side. The location was wonderful--stores, restaurants, transit but yes, when I would get my morning coffee I needed to be fully aware of my surroundings because the Davie Street strip literally turned into an overnight dorm of sleeping bags. Summary: it was not the worst place I was ever in but far from the best. I chose it from my work approved hotels because of the non-smoking part and the kitchen but after this experience, if work brings me to Vancouver again, I will forfeit the kitchen to get something that may enforce the non-smoking a bit more and maybe invested some maintenance overall to at least cast the illusion of a well kept and clean place. This is not to offend the hotel, but, even in the room I felt that I could not take my socks off (I wore two pairs to be safe) and bought a large bottle of sanitizer.
"Davie Street is party central"
The Hotel is certainly in the downtown part of Vancouver, and Davie Street is one of two streets in that part for partying 'til all hours. Be prepared for that! The view of the city from the balcony of our room was impressive and spectacular at night. There was a washer/dryer machine in a closet that I was going to use, but it was moldy smelling. It was too complicated to figure out, and one load could take 4 hours--no thank you. The bedroom was too small for getting around in. The kitchen was convenient with dishes and utensils.
