Vancouver, de Gateway van de Pacific, is een van de populairste steden ter wereld. En niet voor niets. Vancouver is tevens uitvalsbasis voor een (auto-)reis door het westen van Canada of voor een uitstapje naar Vancouver Island.
Recently stayed here for 3 nights and would recommend this hotel. The location was great and easy to get to and from the airport on the skytrain. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast in Moxie's was good but not included in the price of the room. Would stay here again if visiting the area.
"Convenient. That's about it."
After staying at this hotel a few times in the past, it's easy to see how fast it's going downhill. While the lobby itself is quite modern and nice, the hallways and rooms are dirty, outdated, and I found it to be quite loud. Not even the street outside, you could hear just about everything everyone was saying in the neighbouring rooms. My friends and I ended up with a room at the end of the hotel so we were pretty well half wall and half windows. This would be fine, except those windows, due to the fact they are so old and dirty, are VERY difficult to open. I know this because I got a little too acquainted with one of them. I attempted to open one to let some fresh air in and the window was so dirty at the bottom that it was pretty well stuck. I really had to put a lot of effort to get it open, so much so in doing that, the force I had to use to open it made my hand slip and my finger ended up wedged between the glass pane and the window frame. It literally was excruciating and I could not free my hand for a good 3-4 minutes, and I had visions of them having to come take the window down to free my finger. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy about this. Upon checking out, the front desk asked how my stay was, and I informed them of the little incident I had. The only thing the guy asked was if I need a bandaid for my PINCHED finger. No sir, I would rather you give me a bit of a discount for the trouble it caused for me to stay in this overpriced dump. It didn't help that all the other people at check outs had major complaints as well, and not just one.. so that right there told me I wasn't wrong in my thinking. All in all, it wasn't that great of a stay. The only clean part of the room was the bed, so I was grateful for that at least. I would stay here again in a pinch if I had to, but in the future, I think i'll pay the extra and stay somewhere nicer in the same area.
"Stay at the Sandman Hotel Vancouver"
I booked a standard room but it was clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly and I enjoyed the use of facilities such as the swimming pool. The spa was a little too hot, ouch, I felt like a boiled lobster but overall an enjoyable stay and I will be going back there shortly. Can't beat the price and it is close to everything.
"Good Bang for your buck"
My husband and I stayed April 14th for 1 night. We went to a concert at Rogers arena and the location could not have been any better! 5 minute walk if that. The room was clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 instead of 5 if 2 reasons. #1 there was nothing stating when room service shut down so we were calling and calling and calling and no one ever picked so we ended up ordering dominos. #2 Check out is 11am and we had the maid knocking at our door @930 to come in and clean! Not cool! Other then those 2 incidents I have no issue. We booked through BC Ferries vacations which was a great deal!
"Pleasant stay in Downtown Vancouver"
My husband and I always dreamed to visit Vancouver and go to the hockey games as we are big Canucks fans. We decided that as a part of our honeymoon we travel to see them playing live! (and it was great!). We choose the hotel purely by its great central location and didn't expect much else. After 13h flight we arrived at the hotel late at night and we were welcomed by very nice front desk staff, the room was basic yet very clean and comfortable. We ate at two occasions in Moxie and it was nice, quality pub food. Only downside was spotty Wi-Fi service. Overall Throughout our 7 day stay we were pleasantly surprised especially by the great staff who was always there to help. J&F room#404
