"One regret, we should have stayed longer!"
This place is amazing. The accommodation is made up of log cabins dotted throughout the property. They are large and very well appointed. If you like peace and quiet this is the place to stay. The lodges are very comfortable and we had a balcony with a view of the lake. We were warned that a black bear had recently been seen near our cabin but unfortunately he didn't make an appearance for us. We were lucky enough to have a deer quite close to us while we enjoyed after dinner drinks on the balcony. We will absolutely, definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, be returning here.
Log cabin nice and cosy. Journey interesting. Super map on the website so had little difficulty finding it. From other reviews I expected the final part of the road up from Clearwater to be a muddy lane. But the surface was quite solid with only a few patches of pot holing in spite of incessant rain. The information regarding wifi is very accurate - I suggest doing without it! The breakfast/ dinner restaurant is very nicely appointed. Breakfast was a choice from various set alternatives none of which would set you up for a day's hike.
"If you like being in the middle of nowhere this is the place to be"
The chalet was nice. Nice room and lounge, lovely view. The lake is amazing. Not too many hikes around but enough for one day. The restaurant food was not good at all and very overpriced. We ate there only the night we arrived and on the second night we decided to go for a microwave meal .... better value. Breakfast was very basic but ok. Not on my priority list to return .... the staff was very nice. Wifi is terrible ... we are in 2016 ....
"Wish we could have stayed longer"
We could not understand the comments about a rough road as we left Clearwater on a worn but good tarmac surface - then rounding a bend after about 12Km we saw the mud track, it had been raining and so was quite muddy, going up to our left and yes that was the way! Fortunately we had been given a Jeep Grand Cherokee as our hire car which was excellent on this muddy lumpy track and 8Km later we were astounded to see this 'oasis' on our left - The entrance to the resort. The resort is lovely with tarmac roads, attractive log cabins and of course the lake. On arrival the reception staff were very helpful and provided a map of the site. Our cabin, one of two, was excellent with a well equipped kitchen, large open plan living room, cloakroom, good size bathroom, spacious bedroom and balcony. We stayed here two nights and ate in the boathouse restaurant each night - the meals were very good, a nice choice and reasonably priced. The breakfast was included in the price and offered a small selection of choices. Parking is free outside your cabin. We were advised on leaving not to continue down the track towards Barriere, we were heading towards Kamloops, as it is the same all the way - 40Kms on mud road. And therefore returned to Clearwater. We saw several Deer in the resort.
"We loved it"
It is the most idyllic location, tranquil and serene. Ok, it's quite a way from anywhere, but that's what is so nice, a real feeling of being one with nature. Reception were extremely helpful, advising on local traffic re-routing and producing maps. Our chalet was well equipped with great views over the lake. Morning breakfast was good too. I really can't recommend this place enough, I'd love to come back. The only minor downside was that the Internet connection was rubbish, but it's a small price to pay.
