Booking in was ok but need to park in pay station next door. If full redirected 2 blocks away. Booked Queen & ended up with 2 doubles after "Upgrade" to river view room. Bed sagged & squeaked. Room service forgot to empty bin but did replace cracked coffee mug when asked. Restaurant service at night was good especially Mel but Sunday morning breakfast was bad. Bread ran out, hot water ran out, fruit ran out, tables were not being cleared for new customers to sit-it appeared they were very short staffed. There for 3 nights for a reunion and execution of prior arrangements was poor. No one seemed to be in charge and they lacked direction. Hardly anything delivered on time. One person serving finger food to 100 people begs disaster. It may be OK for an individual but not groups. Would not recommend.
"Fantastic surprise at a great price!!"
We recently booked into the Mecure Hotel in Brisbane as a last minute thing. We didn't check in until about 8.30pm. We got the room at an awesome price of $134 including buffet breakfast. The rooms were great. Ours overlooked the river and across to South Bank. We were able to get a late checkout of 12pm and the heavy curtains in the room allowed us to have a really good sleep in. The buffet breakfast left a little to be desired. The coffee was dreadful but the food was OK. A good selection but if we had of paid for it separately I don't think I would have been very happy. We went down for brekkie at 10am and there were no clean cutlery and no teaspoons to stir your tea or coffee. We had to steal salt and pepper from another table. But it was what it was. The rooms were older rooms that have been modernised very nicely and were very clean. They have all the normal hotel room stuff and the beds were very comfy with extra pillows in the cupboard. Tea/coffee etc all available. Great view of the river and South Bank. But the staff were awesome. From the time we checked in to the time we checked out. Very nice and helpful. There was a real hairdryer in the room. Not one of those stuck on the wall kinds. And the butter chicken we ordered at 3am was very very nice. It was a short walk to the Queen St Mall and the casino and pubs. So perfect location. We rode in on the motorbike and there was a free parking area for motorbikes across the road. This was great as secure parking in the hotel was $36 which we felt was a bit steep. Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to go back again or recommend the Mecure to anyone wanting to have a night out in Brisbane and wanting to not do the taxi in and out of the city. For the price of the room and brekkie included it was an excellent place to lay our heads. We will be back.
"Better off with the Marriott, Hilton or Rydges"
To think this is rated a 4 star hotel. refer to title for comparison We booked the hotel on spur of the moment as it was our 9 year wedding anniversary. Upon check in, the shift supervisor audibly treated me as though I was a nasty guy (my wife as a spinal disability and was using my arm for support, the guy kept asking her if she was ok with an inappropriate tone. To add to that, they were going to put us in a room facing construction (are you kidding me?). AFTER my wife complained, we were given a lower floor with a half decent view. The lad serving us had no warmth to her. It was like she was only there for a pay check. She didn't tell us anything we needed to now except room number (luck I'm a local). Very poor experience so far. We proceeded up the lift to our floor. The hallways and dark and narrow. Not very welcoming. On first inspection of the room. It was cosy enough, but cheaply made. (see photos attached). The view was ok. Having watched Hotel Impossible with Anthony Melchiorri, I did the usual checks......OMG...DISGUSTING. Dust everywhere on surfaces above head height, a dark hair hanging on the towel rack on a white towel (only 2 towels provided, very poor). A small couch style furniture piece had several dark stains on them (I don't want to know what they were). If I had used a black light, I'm sure it would have looked like the house of horrors. The bathroom was clean (except for the hair) but no shower door, just a screen that goes half way. enough water can spray onto the floor to create a slipping hazard. The pillows provided were cheap and nasty. I recommend bringing your own favourite (if you're that desperate to stay there). The alarm clock predates 2012 (if you have an iphone 5 or above, your out of luck using its dock). Breakfast the next day was sub standard. Upon check out, I asked Faye I wanted to pay with eftpos, and confirmed it was the card on file (I pulled the card out of my wallet). At this moment she debited the credit card on file even after I had just stated I would pay with an alternate method. This resulted in her having to issue a refund (which did NOT go through straight away as she had stated (took 3 business days). So I had to pay twice initially. Refund took 3 business days Complaints made to the front desk did not appear to be taken seriously (just the usual "we apologise for the inconvenience". After checking out. We did our research and have decided the hotels in the title of this review are much better value for money. My recommendation is to stay away
"The staff is SO RUDE!"
I'm a regular with Accor and was looking forward to my night at the Mercure Brisbane for my birthday.(1st time stay staying at the Mercure Brisbane and which I chose over the Pullman because I had never stayed there - thought Id give it a go) My goodness - I check in with a girl named Cassie - that girl was so cold - no smile whatsoever and obviously she saw it was my birthday - I was given the coldest treatment ever - where was the experience ?? NON EXISTENT! There went my lovely birthday afternoon - I decided not to let it affect my experience and went up to the room and was pleasantly surprised at how lovely the room was! Ordered room service - the food was delicious. Check out - mind you its 7 55 AM - I'm heading to work - Cassie is there again - I thought I'm not going to ruin my day so I carefully avoid her and ask another guy who was there - didn't get his name he was wearing glasses - O.M.G - what the heck - it was as if I was annoying him - no smiles - no nothing -it was 7 55 in the morning for crying out loud !! Who did the training for these people ? Or did they even receive any??! The only staff who were nice - were the 9/10/2016 pm duty manager and the dining room staff - that's it. I am shocked - I hope Accor's regional manager reads this because this is so ridiculous - 0 hotel experience - And that's such a shame because the room, the location, the restaurant - everything else is amazing but totally ruined by the FRONT OFFICE service - those people are meant to be the face of your hotel - what happened to first impressions????!! I am honestly so so SO upset!
"Stay in Brisbane."
The Mercure is a comfortable Hotel adjacent to Southbank which is the Cultural centre of this wonderful city. Stay by the river and walk to Botanic Gardens, Restaurants and Entertainment areas. We would recommend this Hotel to all travellers.
