What a dump. The grounds looked nice when we first arrived, and the rooms were clean. And that's the end of the good list. The rest: The pool: Disgustingly dirty The dining: gross, hot and stuffy, bad food, terrible service (we couldn't get a napkin or fork if our lives depended on it) The rooms: only a few roaches, the sliding door on ground level didn't lock properly, toilets did not flush, air conditioner leaked bucketfuls The service: the staff were mostly miserable (clearly not treated well by management), the issues with our rooms went unresolved despite informing them several times There are many better choices in the area. Choose them.

"Terrible experience"

Our first view was the lobby! Great expectations! Then we went to our rooms and there started our horror movie! Smell of humidity in the room, the bathroom was not properly clean, not enough towels. After came our dinner in this 4-star all inclusive. First imprresion, it was hot in the dinning-room. We were sitted in an available table where the table clothes, linen where all dirty. We asked to be changed and no one cared about! Or even answered! The ceiling was full of big flies that were falling into our glasses! The food was awful! After this experience we went to the bar for a drink. Everything was served in plastic glasses with recommendation of re-using it for a next drink...

"Just Awful!"

Do not book this resort! The food was inedible, cold and covered with flies. The hygiene practices were disgusting. Most of the staff were rude, not interested in assisting with problems or even to provide guests with service. Hotel ran out of ice and towels regularly. We even had to beg for toilet paper at one point. Barely anyone speaks English or at least they pretended they don't speak so that they don't help you. Water in the room was just a trickle and it was cold. A/C was hit and miss. Shows were repetitive and boring. The beach was a huge problem as well. Garbage everywhere. Some sort of bug was biting in the water and kids were running out screaming. Good luck getting a sunbed under shade/cabana as busloads of tourists from town were dropped off every morning and since the beach is public, they were taking all the spots in front of the hotel. Hotel staff were charging them 2CUC for a chair so they couldn't ask them to leave. You have to get to the beach at 7am to get a spot and even then we had some tourists try to take our towels off our seats so they can claim them as theirs! This resort has a major mosquito problem as there is standing water in front of the hotel which is a breading ground for them. This review is based on many trips to Cuba. We love the culture and the people but this time around, we couldn't wait to get home!

"Do NOT stay here!"

If you are an experienced traveler who loves to back pack—or if you prefer quality and have the money—for God’s sake do not book a stay at Brisas Trinidad del Mar, an all- inclusive “resort” 10 km outside of Trinidad. The hotel is HORRIBLE!!! I am both of the above and have never been more frustrated. The location is okay, it’s by the beach which is fairly nice—but the rooms and the service... It’s a family resort, very much alike those you find at the Canary Islands and Lanzarote, but at Cuba there was no water in the sink, or no water in the shower, or no water in the toilet, or the balcony door was broken, or the toilet door was broken, or the air con was broken, or there was a leak in the roof, and if you asked the staff at the reception for another room they simply could not help you. They would ask you to come back, and when you did they were fully booked. (And all the other rooms were just as awful as the one you already had, I know because I inspected many of them.) My impression of Cuba sank so drastically after this experience, so my recommendation is to stay at a homestay/casa particular, there you will find super friendly and service minded people who work for themselves (not the government), and a bit more of the Cuban culture … On the positive side—the food was okay, but the restaurant was noisy and impersonal. And big, big love for our housemaid and the wonderful waiter at the A la Carte service in the garden area (there are gems everywhere).

"Lacking for All-Inclusive Resort"

Our room was adequate and had enough room to move around. The first night that we were at the hotel our bathroom sink would not drain properly and we informed the front desk several times. We were told repeatedly that someone would come by to repair the sink. We finally gave up asking and the sink was not repaired during our stay. The food was okay, but my roommate did come down with food poisoning after our stay at this resort. I do have to echo the same sentiments regarding the staff's lackadaisical attitude that was mentioned in other reviews. We stayed in several hotels during our tour of Cuba and the staff at this resort was the most unfriendly and apathetic specifically the front desk staff and bartenders. The bartenders use tap water in the mix drinks even though they pour the water from store bought water bottles making it appear as if it were store bought water. Also, my friends waited for at least 20 minutes (twice) before giving up for a bartender to show up at the pool bar. In the meantime, the pool bartender was chitchatting with the bartenders at the main bar. She did return to the pool bar for about 15 minutes, but was unable to make any drinks that needed ice because she said she was out of ice then she disappeared again for another lengthy amount of time. During our stay, one of the pools was closed because the pH was off, but the signage was not clear and guests were having to inform other guests that the pool was not open. The resort is not close to town so you will have to take a taxi to get there. The beach is the nicest thing about the resort. There are activities and entertainment planned throughout the day and evening to help you pass the time. Overall, your best bet is to stay at another resort if possible.
