"Once a star property, it has faded significantly"

You can tell that when this place was first opened I’m told in the 1990s) it was likely quite a standout property. It was designed in a way one might design an all inclusive resort in the US. There are two different pools (one was drained while we were there), several bars near the pools, and dedicated area beach side. Thing is, it’s really deteriorated from its heyday. There were tile on the stairs that were broken, wires hanging from the ceilings in different common areas, and some leaking into our room through the roof with heavy rain. Bartenders were all nice (especially if you tipped), but the dining room staff were for the most part inattentive. They did make some food to order which was nice, but took a long time as there were many people who wanted this option. There were flies everywhere and often on the food you might want to scoop onto your plate. It was all you can eat and all you can drink. Bring your mosquito spray though. Despite its use we got bitten a lot. The rooms were nicely appointed and ours had a nice balcony but didn’t use it because of the insects. The water pressure in the shower was the worst of our trip. Had a giant “rain” like shower head but the water dribbled out. Wifi was surprisingly fast (only really useable in/near the main lobby), and 2 CUC/ hour for a wifi card. They ran out of cards at the front desk though. Glad I was able to purchase more in the city of Trinidad during our tour. There was a game room (card/board games available) and a show at 9:30pm each evening (was pretty amateur but they got the audience members involved, so made it a bit more interesting). Summary: nice layout/grounds but too much deferred maintenance to really enjoy what it once was. Service was fair to middling. Drinks were good, food was barely passable. Glad to be leaving after our 2 nights were over. Would recommend looking for something better.

"I wish I had chosen to stay somewhere else"

After staying a few nights in Melia Cayo Coco (strong recommendation!), arriving to this hotel felt like landing from heaven to the, if not hell, somewhere closeby. We had paid for a room with a sea view but got a normal one. After a long arguing the staff finally led us to the right room. Not that the staff member was all smiles in the start, after our request to change to room he looked like he was ready to kill us. We left some cash in the safety box and stupidly did not change the safety code. After coming back from the lunch, the money was gone. Of course nobody admitted anything, instead they blamed on us being careless with our belongings?? Luckily we didn't leave our credit cards, passports etc, who knew what would have happened to them. About the hotel itself: The garden area is quite nice but pool is dirty and not tempting at all. The restaurant where we had our lunch was horrible, so crowded and full of flies chasing the food. The food was really tasteless. Rooms were simply decorated and in a serious need of an upgrade. The beach is just in front of the hotel and it's really nice and calm one. However, going to Trinidad centre takes around 15min by taxi. We stayed here almost 11 months ago and nearly everything that I can remember is negative. It was okey for a two nights stay, but can't even imagine somebody booking a two-weeks holiday in here..

"Comfortable enough..."

The rooms were OK and the bed comfortable but the pools were unusable due to the recent hurricane. The beach-bar was pleasant and efforts had been made to clear the grounds and beach following the hurricane. As with other hotels in Cuba, furnishings and fittings away from reception were poor and in need of upgrading. The staff in the dining room were helpful & the selection of food was reasonable but there was a problem with flies.

"Filthy room & restaurant"

Although the outside was nice, the room was poorly maintained and dirty. The room had hair from the previous occupants on the floor and in the bathroom. Although our booking was all inclusive, we did not have any meal at the restaurant, as it was full of flies sitting all over, including food! Avoid this hotel!

"Very Dissapointed"

This hotel was the last stop on our 2 week trip around Cuba, because it was Cuba we didnt have high expectations. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised the lobby looked nice but it all went down hill from here. The receptionist didnt even greet us on arrival,no information on the hotel etc. Our room was very basic, bathroom was flooded due to a leak in the roof, no hot water for our 5 days stay, a trickle of water when trying to shower. The balcony door didnt lock, curtains falling down, The hotel itself was in need of major repairs, broken tiles everywhere, pool was filthy we couldnt bring ourselves to get in. The restaurant was depressing, dark curtains, grim food, flies everywhere. We ended up eating out every night even though we were all inclusive. The staff at the bar did not want to be there it was like you were a nuisance for even wanting a drink that were undrinkable. Tiny plastic cups filled 3/4 with spirits just rotten. Staff at reception were so rude, so dismissive, ignored you, very unhelpful. The beach was only ok, very dirty people constantly annoying you trying to sell you stuff, people begging for soap etc. Just didnt feel like you could relax or switch off. I actually felt like crying towards the end to just go home. IT put a soar taste in our mouths and left us with a bad view of Cuba as it was our last impression before heading home.
