"DO NOT stay at this hotel!"

This hotel seems not only to be government owned but also government operated (many other hotels in Cuba are owned by the government, but managed by ‘partner’ organizations). It is supposed to be “all inclusive” - which seems to me to be NON inclusive - no water pressure in the rooms, no hot water when there was water pressure, rusted out tubs, no screens on the sliding glass doors that do not slide, weak or no air conditioning (some of the air conditioners seem to be propped up by rocks), no fire hoses in the fire hose reels, no band width to the wi - fi (unless you get up at 5AM and go to a certain spot in the lobby). YES, it is inclusive of alcohol - served by very slow and surly bartenders - and ‘entertainment’ a very loud show that goes on until very late (at least 11:30 most nights) - and food, which we skipped except for the breakfast buffet, which is just minimal. SO - on balance - AVOID this hotel!

"Interesting but ....ugh"

Our group stopped here after Cienfuegos. This place was fascinating because all amenities were included, dinner, drinks, etc. But the rooms were very poor. First, no air-conditioning,(it didn't work). Second now potable water.( but that's pretty much throughout Cuba). Third, you can't put toilet paper down the toilet, you must use a can (provided) Again same all over Cuba. But, fourth, this had no water pressure or hot water. If you got up at 1 am you could get the shower to run for a short period of time. But had to soap fast and rinse at the same time. The food was decent and of course the rum was always available, and the beach area and setting was lovely. I have no idea if there are better accommodations near but from what I saw, don't think so. Recommend at your own risk.

"Great trip - we would return! "

We stayed here in February 2018, and had a great time! To start, yes this hotel needs some upgrades and is not super busy, maybe closer to weekends when the locals come. However, we had nothing but great service from everyone there. The good, I can't really complain about, you have your staples and they had a some sort of roast meat or they were grilling a selection of meat (chicken, beef, shrimp, pork, fish depending on the night). Never had any issues eating, even though I have food restrictions and I am gluten intolerant. The beach is beautiful, one review said they could barely gonin because of the rocks. However we never experienced this, ya maybe the first few steps in was rocky, but that's because the waves push all the rocks up to the beach. After a few steps out it was great. Overall, Trinidad is a beautiful city and this was a perfect place to stay. We came for the culture and sites. I highly recommend doing the mountain tour, the tour of Trinidad and if you want to go snorkle get at the reef go with the guys from the beach. We went on the tour where you go to iguana island and we literally snorkeled for 10-15 minutes and that was it. Unfortunately for us we were last off and getting our gear ready and had like half that time. My one concern was, late one evening after everyone was closed, I guess you could say early morning. I woke up to use the washroom and I could here two people outside my door. I peaked out the peep whole and from what I saw was two maids in their plain clothes, shoving items down their pants and into their tops. I didn't report it and I didn't want to risk our safety or anything like that. I recommend always having your items locked up in your safe or on you.

"just a 2 star hotel"

I've never seen such a bad 4 star hotel. Probably you have to translate Cuban’s 4 star standard in to European and western standard which would definitely just be a 2 star hotel. Room: We booked a room for 2. The room we got had a lovely view. That was the only upside. The bathroom's floor was under water because the toilet was somehow leaking. The bathroom itself was not clean. There were still some hairs from our predecessors. Even after complaining we didn't get a new room Staff The staff are very unfriendly and did not show the slightest inclination to make your stay pleasant. I mean all of them (from desk, bartender, animation, security etc.). You see that they are all suffering of their destiny living in a communist system. Food I lost during my stay some weight, which was the only advantage of Cuban’s bad food supply. The restaurant is disgusting and fogy, because air was greasy from a roast which was in the room. Beach The beach itself was nice. On the other hand going into the water was limited possible, because there al lot of sharp rocks and plants. Internet Like in the rest of this country internet access is very limited and unstable. The only point Wireless Access Point is located in the lobby with a small range. To sum up It is not worth to spend that much money for a hotel when a casa particular stay in Trinidad is possible. Next to the beach is parking area. I would rather stay in Trinidad and go to the beach by car or taxi than staying in this horrible hotel again.

"Another hotel on our tour of Cuba"

Very deceptive from outside and reception - hotel needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to scratch, some areas including rooms were very run down and surfaces very uneven. Buffet not brilliant, not enough cutlery, plates etc to go round. You spent ages searching for a plate and had to wait for clean ones to arrive from the kitchen. Lots of flies and also birds in the restaurant, not very hygienic. Pool area nice but water looked a bit dubious. Beach was pleasant and quite quiet. We ended up with quite a few mosi bites during the evening - unlike in other areas we stayed in.
