"Our holiday was amazing!"

I have stayed at Brisas Trinidad many times, I can find nothing negative to say. The staff is amazing, when there is a problem they give all they have to make it better! Is it a 5 star compared to other countries, probably not, however after travelling to other Caribbean countries, Cuba is my country of choice! I feel safe when I leave the resort, many times I have traveled to Trinidad by myself ($10cuc by Taxi) and feel very safe doing so. I cannot say enough about the staff at the resort! From the minute I get off the bus at this resort, I'm totally relaxed. The beach is fantastic, the grounds are very well kept, the pool was clean, the drinks are plentiful and I always find something to eat. If I went on vacation exclusively to eat, I would not be going here, however, I never go hungry. The snack bar makes excellent pizza (if you go to the buffet and get some pineapple the snack bar chef Irvine makes the best Hawaiian pizza ever (better than Canada!) Osmany is the public relations manager and he is always available if there is a problem. He is very attentive and works very hard to make sure things are great! There are so many staff members at this resort that treat us well, far too many to mention. The housekeeper we had on our stay was excellent, the room always smelled clean when we walked in. The towels were changed everyday and bottled water was replenished daily. I traveled with my sister and two friends, we have all vacationed at various locations in Cuba and have to say this is the resort of our choice. (my friends were very impressed with the resort, the beach and the service) I have already booked to go back!!

"Just right!"

After over 30 visits to Cuba I am utterly perplexed by the negative reviews here. Having seen it all from 2-5 stars at every location around the Island, I can assure you that Brisas Trinidad ranks very highly on my short list of favorites. I can only conclude that the tourists who complain about food, mosquitoes and service will return home to continue complaining about their weather, traffic and neighbors. Life is full of inconveniences...everywhere you go. How you deal with them will forever define you. The best thing about this place which sets it apart from the others is ATTITUDE. The people who work here are among the nicest I have ever met. Always a smile, always ready to assist, everyone feels like friends or family. You can tell that they are proud to be here, working as a team, helping each other to serve you better. This is the most elusive and highly coveted characteristic a hotel can possess. Here it is in abundance and is what will keep me coming back. A few details: Site layout is cute. Think Spanish colonial village. Very tranquil and serene. Rooms are comfortable and secure. None of the usual obnoxious resort noises. Very relaxing. Food? I ate like a pig and gained 5 pounds in two weeks. The guy in charge of food is the only one who never smiles. He is too busy inspecting every morsel being offered. He is the one you want. Drinks? Oh yeah! Every kind. The beach is glorious! Morning walks are hypnotic. The water is calm and clear. The little nearby town of Trinidad is a GEM. Narrow cobblestones winding up and down hillsides revealing modest homes and hidden treasures. Again there is a unique attitude here. People seem less stressed and are kinder than usual. Upon arriving home and while scraping ice from my windshield in the airport parking lot I felt eternally grateful for being only 3.5 hrs away from my favorite country. Safe. Affordable. Unique. Always a beach somewhere. Always a welcoming grin. What is there to complain about?

"Needs works"

The beach is great the buffet service has some variety and quality but the exhaust did not work, the dining room was filled with smoke and smell the food. The rooms have some degradation, as well as the sanitary facilities that have water with very little pressure. For those who travel by destination and not by conditions is an option to consider.

"Nice beach stay"

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is located on the Ancon peninsula, a few kilometres from Trinidad and about 20 km from Topes de Collantes. The first impression was really good, lovely reception area and the hotel garden, swimming pools etc. The room was ok, well cleaned but there were some mold and damages on the ceiling, I am not sure if it is the fault of the hurricane or it would look like this anyway. We had a lovely beachview and the balcony was spacious, with 2 chairs and a small plastic table. However, mosquitos were active in evenings, so we could spend only nice mornings there. The A/C worked well. Room safe was for free. Beach towels, sunbeds and parasols were for free (we had AI, not sure if they were free for other service plans), with some penalty for the towel if you lost it. We received 1 big bottled water on arrival and another one day prior to our departure. You cannot get bottled water at the bar or restaurant, you have to buy some overpriced (only 0,5 liters, not even a big one) in the shop in the lobby. There was a fridge in the room. There was only cold water in the shower (but not the European really cold, you could make shower normally...). The hotel has its own parking. Internet card cost 1,5 CUC/hour (which was actually half of the price we paid in Havana). We had the all inclusive, highly appreciated mainly for drinks. The food in restaurant was mediocre. There was always smell from the grill and queues, as the cook does not have any meat ready, he asks what you want when it is your turn and at that moment he starts cooking it.... Breakfasts had a variety but there were flies and the food did not look too tempting. I ended up with order made omelettes which were good. We also tried the a la carte restaurant, which was better with regard to the environment, the same with regard to the taste. Then we tried the 24 fast food bar with its nice hamburgers and hot dogs, but you cant eat fried stuff all times. :) Personnel quality was variable, there were generally nice and helping people at the reception desk, the lobby bar, and 24hour fast food. Whereas waiters in the main restaurant were combined - from attentive and active to bored and ignorant, in contrary to the a la carte restaurant where everyone was again very kind and caring. With regard to Irma hurricane, we noticed some repairs were being made to the hotel, the wing where our room was located looked almost empty with some rooms awaiting repairs (it was the seaside). One half of the swimming pool did not work and the beach palapas (parasols) were being rebuilt. Nothing that would stop us from having a great holiday. Probably most of it will be ready for the main season. I can imagine it must have been hard work to make the hotel operating at the current level in such a short time!

We were there 2 nights. No A/C despite outside temps over 32c, NO water at all one night, NO water pressure or hot/warm water either night, FLIES all over breakfast food, NO iced drinks at bar either day as "ice machine broken", pool 1/2 closed. Run, don't walk, away from this disaster.
