Een bezoekje aan het magnifieke Casa Dupont; men kan er tegenwoordig verrukkelijk dineren of van een drankje en het uitzicht genieten in de bar.

Meliá Las Americas

Uiterst sfeervol resort hotel.

Over Meliá Las Americas

Shows en entertainment. Winkeltjes, 24-uurs roomservice, beautysalon.

"THE PLACE TO BE IN VARADERO"

   02-12-2016
Not enough can be said about this hotel and the people that work there... Melia Las Americas is an excellent hotel with all the amenities you would need for your vacation. The picturesque views, white sandy beaches with plenty of space to relax, great golf at Varadero Golf Club and the hospitality extended to you by the entire staff will have you coming back every year. There is plenty to choose from at the morning buffet, the lunch and dinner menu at La Robleza is enough to satisfy the most delicate pallet as well as dinner at La Arcada. A must for a meal is the Cuban beach side barbeque for lunch. If you enjoy a morning coffee in your room be sure to bring the little containers that hold the coffee as there was only a kettle in our room. The beds are comfortable although our room had two beds pushed together. The view from the third floor is excellent regardless of which side of the hotel you are on; however, the front of the hotel also has a great view of number 10 and 15 on the golf course as well as the ocean. For you golfers - show up early for your t-time as the computers are a little slow - if possible bring CUC's to pay for the cart as I was able to bypass 12 people sometimes who were waiting to pay by credit card and get to the range to hit a few. Be sure to get a voucher for your golf upon arrival from the reservation desk as the course may ask to see it. Fire right at the pin, the greens hold like velcro. And finally the staff - Enough can not be said of the service they provide. Yes they appreciate tips and yes tipping does get you a little more attention during the busy time around dinner, but you will not be waiting for a drink long if you do not tip. A special shout out to Daisy, Havier and Juan for their attention to our comfort during our stay and also to the Manager Bernardo once again for a great time at Melia Las Americas, Varadero. See you in March !

"It was just okay"

   30-11-2016
Sorry to counter all the rave reviews but really it was just an okay experience. We travelled with friends and all went well at check in. Very professional and friendly. The room was a standard and it was just alright. Clean and comfortable, some missing tile in bathroom, few stains but quite alright. The buffet was just okay as well. Hot selections were few and often not all that warm. The grill was usually good and the omelette station was quite excellent in the morning (my favorite meal). Robleza is a good choice for lunch and Arkada a la carte was excellent. Japanese was okay but if your expecting benihana - go to Mexico. Staff is generally helpful with a few disinterested types. Lobby bar staff seemed to favour some (repeat guests?) and even with a tip ready I often failed to generate a smile or any interest in looking up from putting away glasses until I had stood there for a few minutes. Drinks were good when they were finally poured. Table service in the lobby bar area is mostly non-existent and it is not unusual to see the three bartenders chatting amongst themselves or gone altogether. The beach guys are great, friendly and helpful. The dancers are very good in the shows ( if that's your thing) and some very excellent singers. Shows are worth a watch. THE WORST OF THE BAD - LATE NIGHT ROOM CONSTRUCTION - They were renovating our wing in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. Moving furniture, sanding, scrapping and hammering all around and above us. We were awoken several times throughout the night as late as 3:00 am. I let it go for one night and complained after the second, it stopped for one night then started up again on the last night of our stay. Not very restful, I cannot imagine who thought this was a good idea in a "five" star. THE MINI-BAR RACKET - If you don't tip you will be lucky to get one bottle of water. No pop and no beer. We are not big drinkers of pop or beer so I didn't bother tipping. We got beer replaced once, pop once and one bottle water per day. Others told us a couple of CUC a day gets you a stocked fridge. So much for tipping is for good service idea. BEER GLASSES ARE LIKE THIMBLES - Very tiny glasses at beach. Take a mug or be prepared to carry a tray of 6 or 8 like we saw some people doing. BEACH CONSTRUCTION NOISE - both ends of the beach had projects underway involved hammering, sawing, CHAINSAWING and so forth. Not restful. GROUPS OF GOLF GUYS - Okay, not much they can do about this as they are a golf resort but be prepared. Many groups of booze soaked cretins in 24/7 golf related attire talking loud, swearing and staggering around the resort. No escaping loud stories about " A BUDDY WHO>>> HAHAHAHA" Much cigar puffing, f bombs and comments about women in their bathing suites does not make for a relaxing buffet dinner, poolside sit or lobby sit. Frankly, they are everywhere. In the end, just okay and likely not rushing back.

"Golf and beach.... an amazing combination"

   29-11-2016
Melia Las Americas is a all inclusive resort on the Varadero Peninsula offering the best of what my wife and I want in a vacation , Golf and beach. From the main lobby it is left for the golf, right for the pool and straight ahead for the beach! Now that's convenience ! The golf course was above expectations with a variety of difficulty of holes. Some "picture post card" vistas on many holes and a challenging wind when we played. Our room was good, the bed perfect, the washroom good, TV was great, Internet was spotty from the lobby. Very good buffet for meals but also some wonderful restaurants on site for variety. A fish lover's paradise! Bars everywhere with good service. Wonderful and varied performances each nite made after-dinner time very entertaining. Too bad the pool was not heated and the hot-tub non existent. I was impressed with the general manager who made time each day to talk with his clients and acknowledge his employees. All in all a very pleasant and active stay!!

""Our Home Away From Home""

   28-11-2016
Just returned from our annual vacation at MLA. We spent 13 days of pure enjoyment .From the time we walked through the doors until we left, we were greeted with smiles, hugs and greetings. The hotel is charming, fresh flowers throughout and spotlessly clean. Food is awesome, A la carte restaurants, namely Arcado, top notch with a quartet. lobster bisque, lobster tails, filet and so much more. Special mention to Arial, Sergio and Miguel. Sakura, Japanese, a fun evening, Alex is the absolute best, he's puts on quite the show. La Robleza has a fixed menu for evening but this is our favourite place for lunch, picturesque, overlooking the ocean and nice menu. Servers here are excellent as well as the cooks. The Buffet has so much to offer from Fish. seafood, beef, lamb, chicken cooked to order, Lots of fruits and vegetables. Freshly baked breads, buns, & croissants. Pasta, salad, dessert stations also. Breakfast offers so much, fresh juices, eggs, cooked to order, crepes, waffles etc. Entertainment is top notch, so much talent. Oscar and his group from the conservatory are as good as you will ever hear. Lobby patio, picturesque overlooking the ocean, so nice. The beach is second to none in the Caribbean, clean, crystal clear water with lots of palapas and lounges. Tips are not expected but appreciated. All inclusive does not mean no tips. Please show your appreciation to all the hard working, wonderful people who strive to make your vacation enjoyable and memorable. Bernard, the GM, you can't miss him, he is on top of everything from morning to night. He also speaks about 5 languages. Thank you for all you do. Until next year, Denis Brodeur/Louise Shaw 4106

"Great Holiday"

   25-11-2016
Overall a great place to spend a week just chilling out, time in the sun, eating good food and enjoying the ambience. We booked this hotel partly as it was adults only and for a change this did actually mean no children! There was always some live music in the evening but this was either a piano player, string quartet, saxophonist etc. Delightfully adding to the relaxed atmosphere but without being intrusive. I would definitely recommend upgrading to a bungalow, ours was located just a few metres from the beautiful golden sandy beach. Ok, the air conditioning was a little noisy but not really a big issue for us. We had bedroom, changing room, lounge and patio. Kettle was supplied and the fridge was re-stocked each day with water, cola and beer. The beach was delightful, sun beds aplenty and no need at all to get up and have to rush down before breakfast with your towels to save one. Pedalo's and such like were freely available (all included) and proved a nice occasional distraction. Being in a bungalow meant we situated ourselves on the beach a bit along from the main hotel which worked out well for us as that meant we were away from the noise of the keep fit and active brigade - fine for us! The main eating place was fine. Other than the usual fare on offer at an all inclusive hotel, there was ample choice of fresh meat and fish that would be cooked as you wanted it. Do try La Roblenza at lunchtime however, one of the other restaurants where they will cook a beautiful paella for lunch. You can even order it in advance as it take up to 30 minutes to cook. In addition, make sure you try all the additional A La Carte restaurants in the evenings - book them up as soon as you can as each gives a different culinary experience and none were disappointing. Cocktails etc were good and there was none of the excessive use of cheap rubbish local alcohol that can often happen in such places - they got it just about right as far as we thought. Overall I can only recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday with atmosphere but the option for privacy too. One last thing, look out for the general manager chap who you will see everywhere talking to guests - nice man who is a great lookalike for Michael Douglas!
