" A must for the Manatees "
We went there to see the Manatees and were in the right place The rooms were not new but they were spotlessly clean and large and the noise minimal as the hotel have went to the trouble of carpeting the hallways (A pet bugbear of mine) therefor cutting down the noise element . We did not eat in the Hotel but a friendly local advised us to go to a Inn called Body's Up the road but there see so many outlets no need to go to that one in particular Would go back to there if I was ever back in the area
"Great stay at The Plantation."
Great location and just beautiful grounds, very comfortable. The pool and hot tub are located right on the water a great view. The Tiki bar is cool and the food is great. We loved our room, it was clean and spacious.
"Wonderful stay to celebrate our Anniversay. "
Everything was just top notch. The room was newly redecorated, clean, and quiet. The hotel is being remodeled inside and outside. We had dinner that evening in the dining room and it was top notch. From the drinks to the appetizer and soup to the entrees and the dessert, everything was beautifully presented, delicious and plentiful. The service was great too. It was a wonderful evening. Breakfast was also very good and the country ham was so large, it,could have fed 3 people! We took the Manatee River Cruise and had a great cruise and saw a Manatee, even if they are scarce this time of year. We had such a good time, we plan to,go back this,Fall or winter.
"Very relaxing, BUT........."
This is an overview of a scalloping trip booked through this hotel shortly after hurricane Irma came through the area to help put things in perspective. First on a positive note, the staff in all departments were warm and welcoming. The property setting was lovely and the food was good. Now for the watch outs. The property overall is very tired to put it politely. I know they are trying to make improvements but it needs a lot of work inside and out. I have seen reviews about the beds and yes they are poor and to add to that my wife thought the sheets were so thin she was afraid to pull on them for fear of tearing them. The towels were extremely rough and so was the toilet paper (comments from my wife and a women who was also traveling with us in a separate room). And the room was so musty smelling we had to was all our clothes when we returned home, So from this perspective the price value relationship is terrible. Now on to the scalloping. I was going back and forth with the captain the day before to make sure it made sense to come that way given the storm, which by the way hit us in southwest Florida. We were told all was good. Well come to find out not so. In fact we find out that other captains (2) the day before we arrived told him how poor it was due to the condition from the storm. So why would I go when I had an option to back out? I am not throwing the captain under the bus since he needs to make a living and did the best he could. Yet we should have been told this so "WE" could have determined if it made sense to make the trip. Last, the billing is ridiculous. When you finally get the details you need to be a accountant to figure it out. There are so many hotel service fees, sales, misc. & occupancy taxes it will make your head spin. Of course as you read this you need to understand, I have flown over 6 million miles both domestically and international so this isn't my first rodeo. Bottom line, it was not worth the money, so "buyer beware".
Having just had a hurricane the room was a bit musty but the hotel staff provided something to help. The front desk clerk, Becca, was super friendly, the lounge staff was as well. The food was wonderful and arrived hot! The lounge employees, we had a good time speaking with them. Breakfast the next morning was very good and the staff was just as friendly. We stayed for a night while we waited for our power to come back on after the storm. Just what we needed; a cool room, amazing and friendly staff, and cooked food. It was a perfect stay! We are local and we will be back! Thanks to all of you for a wonderful stay.
