"Beautiful hotel in a great location"
When we arrived at Gale South Beach, we were informed that we received a free upgrade. We were so excited. We ended up in a beautiful room with a private balcony and cabana!! It is right across the street from the beach and you have beach access through another hotel (forgot the name). Anything we needed was addressed right away. The bar in the hotel also had great food and drinks.
"Great Hotel, Great Location"
The Gale South Beach is a block from the beach and right in the center of South Beach. The staff was friendly and professional, the room spotless and most importantly, the bed was incredibly comfortable. I had a nicely designed room with a small terrace and absolutely loved it. I see there are some reviews mentioning the rooms are small. I'm sure some rooms are larger than others, and it's true, there are places with large rooms. But either way, it depends what you're looking for. I didn't even think about the size of the room as it had a nice vibe, was well lit, clean and comfy. Also, the restaurant downstairs is excellent. I've eaten there a few times over the last few years.
"After being encouraged to rebook a second stay - completely disappointed now "
We stayed here November 29th to 30th and enjoyed our time and service (20 discount on food at we were a hotel guest; nice pool , good breakfast ,ect... ) here we decided we would come back the week after right after our trip to Key West and Cuba. So booked again from December 4 to 7th. Before booking we were showed what kind of room we would be getting a room with a balcony ( over a 1000$ for three nights as one night is during the Art Basel event on Miami ) . When checking in on the 4th we were allocated another room and had to explain to the front desk what had been offered to us if we booked again. Eventually the front office lady moved us to a room with a terrace but very very small room and kind of did this as a 'Favor' . Went to breakfast where we were clearly disturbing as food was running out waiters were impatient and on top of that the 20% discount had disappeared even though Front desk had specified this; house keeping is done very laid back and products are not replaced - shower caps for ex had to phone twice to get one... the enchantement of the first visit has clearly worn off . Is this the hotels policy to returning customers. Once they consider them won over no more effort is made? The hotel is at a price where a certain level of service is required and during an Miami event they are unable to provide then they should close of their hotel for that time or just rent it out for events. But in no case should clients be held hostage for business sake !
"Find another hotel"
The Gale hotel has unusually small rooms. The closet is really only a half closet see the picture enclosed and there is only one night table on one side of a particular small double bed. There is no desk no chair no luggage rack. The staff however are very nice but it took an unusually long time to check in. The location is excellent and the bathroom is adequate. The question I always ask is what I come back and the answer is a resounding no. There are too many other nice hotels in South Beach to stay here
"Felt like a jailhouse "
The small hotel on Collins avenue seems charming as you walk in. The lobby is actually a restaurant and the reception is up 7 steps. No bell boy to help with the luggage. The reception area is ok, but I waited 10 minutes for the only receptionist to complete his conversation with a guest checking out. As I was invisible, he proceed to help a new guest that had just walked in. My room was across the elevator on the third floor, as small as a closet, with the bathroom lavatory outside in the bedroom, one night stand, no room for a chair or a place for the he luggage’s, a tiny closet and not even a complimentary small bottle of water. I like to add that this room was the upgrade version (lol) The room was clean, the bed comfortable, but the night stand was so small and cramped that I had no room to put my cell phone. This is a place not to be enticed by photos that do not reflect the reality. This hotel is a lot of fluff. Stay at the Royal Palm, very beautiful Art Deco interior, large pool and on the beach.
