"Brilliant hub for disney"
This was my first trip to the USA and Disneyworld, and this hotel was great. The rooms were big, clean and had everything you need (even a safe). There was a decent sized swimming pool and a Disney shop too. The hotel has a mini bus terminal with all buses going to different Disney parks. The only downside with stopping in Disney without a car is, that it's quite expensive and hard to get to universal and sea world for example. The hotel restaurant also is quite pricey if you're not on the dining plan. But overall, I loved it and the themes too!
"Best Upkept of the All-Star Resorts"
We have stayed at all three of the All-Star resorts: Sports, Music, & Movies. The All-Star Sports resort is the first one built, and it appears to be the best kept property of the three. The design is very close, and homey. The cast members were fantastic, and for a value resort, Disney did well.
"Good for the Money"
I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 2 year old daughter on April 9-13. My parents and mother-in-law each had their own rooms. I checked in online but our room was not ready at 3:45 PM when we arrived. We went to the counter to check on the status and it did take some time, which was a little annoying. I requested adjoining rooms (a week in advance) and they adjoined my parents and mother-in-law, instead of us and my mother-in-law. They quickly corrected it. Also, they gave us the option to get a $30 gift card to not have our room cleaned daily. We took them up on it. They did come around each day and ask if we needed towels or trash removed. Unfortunately, that occurred once during our daughter's nap which was disruptive. We paid for a Preferred Room, which I highly recommend because these rooms are closer to the food court and buses. Our building (6) was next to the pool but our room didn't face the pool so it was not loud. The rooms were clean and had all the basic stuff. I wasn't expecting the Ritz so I was fine with the basic room. You could not hear the people in the rooms next door. Overall, for a value resort we thought the resort was fine. It had the things we needed. The rooms were adequate. The staff was friendly and helpful. We utilized the buses to get everywhere and they arrived without too much waiting. We love Disney and we are glad there are less expensive options that allow us to stay on the property.
"Gotta do better if you now want to charge for parking."
Didn't use the extra hours. Buildings need a little better signage for evenings. I understand no longer using mini bottles for the bathroom, but if that's the case - you need to keep the soap bottles filled in the shower (That line that says empty is there for a reason). And maid service knocking on doors at 8 am IS WAY TOO EARLY!!!!!!!!! Beds are minature doubles and $3 for a bottled coke in the vending machince is ABSURD when you already nickle and dime folks. I normally don't stay on property and it shows Disney is slipping.
"Like a Motel 6 with Ritz Carlton prices"
I stayed at the All Sports Resort hotel while at a conference in Disney, at the Contemporary Convention Centre. Bad decision since it takes about 35-45 minutes to travel to and from the center. Plus, you get off the bus, must walk first to the main park entrance to pass a bag and scanning security system before walking back to the center where you are outside the security ring. No shortcuts. The hotel looks nice and colourful when you arrive but the rooms themselves are like Motel 6, outdoor corridor, broken shower, needs a serious refurbishment. A rip off for the price. But wait... wait till you go to buy food or drink... that's a real shocker. No other options available since they have a captive audience and they fleece you. As I recall, a can of beer was $7.75 and a bottle of coke (standard size) was $3.75. Breakfast cost about $15 for a small paper plate of chopped potatoes, some bacon and egg with a tiny waffle. So small it was hardly enough to feed an adult. Some staff were very nice, others not helpful at all with that jaded "I've no time for customers" look. Sad, because I remember Disney from over 20 years ago.
