Unfortunately, this stay was not the best I have had. We were put in a room that was right next to construction that was going on at this resort. Light hammering they said...... well that turned into sawing concrete, in the middle of th afternoon, that was so loud it sounded like a jack hammer. It was aweful. The room was ok. Nothing special but it was clean. I normally love staying on Disney property but this time it was disaster. Make sure you check for construction before you book your vacation here.
"Excellent for the location and cost!"
This is our second time staying at the All Star Sports and we have stayed at 3 other Disney owned Resorts. The All Stars are a great low cost option when no team events are taking place at the Wide World of Sports. Just search this online. The resort was busy but not over loaded with teens with little supervision. The resort has preferred location rooms for those who may consider walking to the bus and food court a long walk. It is easily worth a extra few dollars if walking in the Florida heat may be an issue. The front desk staff was excellent in my experience. We were checked in promptly and the cast member (Travis) really was excellent! We also got a late check out approved on departure day as we had a late departing flight. Remember, usually all you need to do is ask. The buses were pretty well spaced and we never waited a long time for a bus to any of the four parks, and we came and went twice a day. Sometimes the three All Star Resorts share a bus, but we only once went to another for just a quick stop. If the bus is dropping off at the three resorts, the Sports will always be the first stop. For this reason it really isn’t an issue. The Sports is easily located only a short 10 minute drive to all parks with the exception of Magic Kingdom. We used the pool, food court and housekeeping daily with no issues whatsoever. I didn’t review as excellent as the rooms are needing some TLC, which I understand is coming soon. See you soon Disney!
"I thought I was staying at a Disney Resort?"
We stayed at the Disney Sports Resort for a week in the building so far, far away from everything! To refill your cup or catch the bus U had to walk across the world to get there. The 1st or 2nd morning of our stay AK had magic hours (7am-8am) so we were at bus stop(630am) waiting with a few other people then as time kept passing line grew all the way to entrance of resort then several wheel chair guest came rolling out(they get bus 1st). Buses to other parks would stop to pick up their guests & we were still waiting. When clock hit 7am I really got mad called resort told them magic hours to AK was 7am-8am but no bus & line was very long with several wheelchair guest. After another 10 minutes this big mouth female employee came out yelling then a bus showed up & another bus & another bus. Don't know why this employee was yelling we were the ones missing our magic hours. We got to AK after 8am. We did the "opt out of housekeeping" for the week but a member of housekeeping open the door on us when we came back for a break from park. He knocked one time then door flew open before I could get off bed. It's a good thing I had clothes on or I could have scared the crazy man. I complained to resort bout this & they apologized said it wouldn't happen again but next day was a repeat. They said, "It was a security thing" the 1st day & 2nd day it was to see if the " toliet was working" I really thought this was a Disney Resort not a circus. They came to our rooms (had 2 rooms) every day & the do not disturb thing was on door. We fixed the lock so they couldn't just open the door on us. The toilet is so close to the bathroom door that U have to fall over in tub to close it. They need more employees at front desk for every thing! This place was a little better than POP Century at least we were not locked out of our rooms or turned away at the parks cause of wrist bands not working. We missed all of the magic hours at POP Century too. All the money Disney World takes in U would think they could do a little better. Each building at resort should be equipped with a refill machine for soda & coffee. It rained every day, rides were cancelled for a while & buses where always late(they would let U get soaked). I paid good money for travel insurance Disney offers too but it's not gonna cover their screwups or the rain cancellations. Oh, the dining plan be careful when planning they have some restaurants that take 2 meals instead of 1. As always it will take a couple years for me to get over this experience to go again.
"Amazing time away"
The room was very clean, the shop was overpriced for normal things. The shop was amazing for the disney things though, how they had normal park items for sale, and that you would get items from the parks delivered to the hotel for free was a life saver. The room was very clean, and it was brilliant that we had two beds. The tv channels were excellent, the room was very tidy and clean. We decided to opt out of room sercvice for a $130 gift card to spend in the parks with the option of paying $10 for a clean which we did do once and the cleaners came within the hour. The pools were great, the midnight movies were a little dissapointing, its a screen around the sunloungers which are always full, and you can hardly see the screen because of the sun. The making smores were amazing, and so was all of the staff. We had a brilliant time. The only downside was on the last day, when a cleaner knocked on our door three hours before checkout to tell us it was time to leave so she could clean. According to the reception its a recurring issue
"Disney on a Budget(ish)"
This is a very nice, basic hotel, perfect for when you spend most your time either at the parks, sleeping and washing. The rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable, the location of our room (Touchdown 7) was close to the car park and main building, which I thought was great, especially after a long day walking around the parks. We were on the ground floor which I thought could be an issue, however I think I preferred it. You can stay off site for a cheaper price, however, in my opinion I believe that the magic hours, free transportation (for when you want to drink!) and the fact you can book fast passes 60 days in advance (great for Avatar Flight of Passage - ended up with 5 in the end!!) make up for this. When we arrived the check in was a little slow, but we got there, our magic bands were waiting for us and were used as room key and park tickets. We decided to take the gift card over housekeeping (a two week stay = $130 - great for paying for a meal at the Be Our Guest Restaurant). This worked by the hotel giving you $10 for each day you stay, if you do need any extras just phone up and ask and if you'd like a full room clean just book it in the day before and the hotel charge your room $10. I think a mandatory clean after 5 days or so should be enforced to ensure room are clean. Pool, food court and general public areas were clean and staff were very friendly. Hotel was quite busy, but the rooms do a very good job of keeping the noise out. We had to contact reception as our AC was leaking, although maintenance came quickly the floor was very wet (around the AC unit) - no major issue as it was on our last two days. Rooms have a two double beds, fridge, TV, free save, shower, shallow bath, sink, powerful hairdryer (if from UK don't take your own US is 110V and UK is 240V and they will be slow), ample storage, table, two chairs, bedside cabinet and alarm clock. I have stayed at All Start Movies and this is very similar just a different theme. FYI from what I gather the hotels no longer share a bus route, each All Star had it's own bus service, which was a bonus. Would I stay here again, yes i would, but remember to bring a kettle / coffee maker, mugs and bowels (for cereal saves money!)
