"Magical Disney Vacation"

This was the best Disney experience ever. It could have been a disaster after I received a call for the hotel staff saying our lake view room was unavailable. The 5 day trip was a high school graduation present for my daughter who earned it for academic achievement. Once learning of my daughter's disney dream, Mr. Parker and Tim (manager) offered us a premier dining plan at no charge. Well, the entire family ate like a royal family for 5 days straight and received a lake view on day 2. The hotel staff were amazing friendly, professional and helpful. The 2 bath, 2 bedroom DVC Villa, including full kitchen was clean and roomy for 5 people. The grounds were well kept and beautiful day and night. The concierge staff were extraordinarily helpful and knowledgeable. We had a blast at all the Disney parks, 4 day 1 park per day ticket experience. The food at the resort restaurants, private dining, and parks was amazing as to be expected for a Disney resort. DVC members for life!

"Elegantly Fun"

This resort is the dream. The architecture, lobby, performers, rooms, views, and distance to Magic Kingdom (one monorail stop away) make this resort well worth the money. This was our first and probably last time to spend a night at the resort due to money but we would love to stay here again someday!

"When in Disney..."

Traveled to the GF in beginning of June 2017 with my wife, and our two young kids (6 and 4). Overall our stay was very good. Im not a Disney fanatic, and would prefer other luxury hotels in the area, but the GF is likely the finest selection within Disney Resorts. Pros Location Location Location - The hotel is in a fantastic location for experiencing all Magic Kingdom has to offer. Either a quick ride on the monorail or a short boat ride, and you are literately within feet of entering the park. Much more convenient than self parking, taking trolley, then a boat or monorail. Great for short breaks from park for pool/meal/nap. Luxury - It is a beautiful hotel, with beautiful grounds. The band/piano player are great additions, and really make this hotel standout from other local experiences. The rooms are spacious, come equipped with a mini fridge, and house keeping does a great job of managing rooms/keeping them clean. Pools - Three beautiful pools, each with its own distinctive feel - kid's pool/play area is wonderfully built, and lifeguards were always on duty, ensuring only kids below height restriction were playing there. Courtyard pool is laid back and peaceful, and offers great swimming for all ages. The third pool, near the villas and kid's pool, is much more active, with activities all day long (pending weather). Activities - Well - Magic Kingdom is 5 minutes away. With transportation readily (and free) available to all other spots/parks/resorts - Disney. Other than that, and the previously mentioned pools and band/piano player, the hotel has plenty to keep you entertained. The fireworks show is truly awesome. Cinderella stops by a few times a week, which is fun for the kids. Boats for rent. Movies on the lawn some nights; great views of the Magic Kingdom Fireworks show and Lagoon Water Show; an arcade, etc. etc. etc. Service - The Disney staff/cast do try to go out of their way to make your kids feel special. I can not think of one time in the span of a week where just casually walking with my son or daughter, a cast member did not stop to welcome them, say hello, call my daughter princess. It really it wonderful when most other resorts are so focused on adults, that Disney makes these little acknowledgements to the kids...because after all, who doesn't want to see their kids happy. Magic Express - Free ride and luggage transport to/from airport/hotel. This was a great, easy to use service. Highly recommend. So why not 5 stars? 1 - Food & Drink Prices - This may be a little unfair. I did not find GF to be different relative to peers in the area - Waldorf, JW Marriott, Ritz Carlton. But I also didn't expect a Disney pizza and a beer to run me $40. As you are within Disney Resorts, you are quite a bit away from outside restaurants, so if you plan on not renting a car, or riding around on buses or the monorail, etc., you are subject to the prices at the resort which without a Disney dining plan seem astronomical. My 4 year old ate mac and cheese for most of his meals, of which he almost never ate more than half. At $11 a pop, it didn't even come with ice cream. A more friendly young child's option at like $5 would still let Disney profit off the $0.25 cents of pasta/cheese it used to make the dish. 2 - When we arrived, I had had shipped a Amazon Prime Pantry package with cupcakes, etc. to celebrate my son's 4th birthday (which was the Sunday of my arrival at the hotel). When I arrived, we were told that the box was at the business center where it would remain till the next day as it was locked away, and nobody had the key. After speaking with 3 folks for about an hour, the box was ultimately delivered (as somebody had the key). While I appreciate the final individuals help, it seemed like a lot to go through for a service that should take place all the time. BTW - the address I shipped to, came from an e-mail I had received from WDW reps telling me where to ship it, and that it would "be in my room on arrival". 3 - Room service can be slow pending the time, but they do give you fair warning. Took us close to 70 minutes to get the above mentioned pizza and beer one day during lunch. Seems very slow for such a simple order. 4 - We actually have made a habit of traveling to Orlando for my daughter or sons birthday every year or so - the timing just works. When we stayed at the JW Marriott - we got free slices of cake in our room; at the Ritz Carlton - we received a free birthday package with balloons, coloring books, cake, etc.; at the Waldorf - free balloons and ice cream. Disney you ask? We got a pin that said "happy birthday" and after complaining about the delay in delivery of the amazon package (as noted above) we received two free two balloons. Perhaps I shouldn't have expected more as Disney does offer "experiences" on its website where I could buy a small ice cream cake for $50, or other packages up to $$$$, but I would say here, in the area where I actually expected the most, they performed the worst (relative to other hotels in the areas I've stay at). Despite the negatives, I'd highly recommend this hotel, and if returning to Disney, I would happily stay in the GF again!

"Wonderful time at the Grand Floridian and Gasparilla Grill -- Cindy and Cat are the best!"

The Grand Floridian is truly a magical and wonderful place to stay. You can't beat the proximity to Magic Kingdom (one monorail stop away). It is expensive and luxurious, but well worth the money. If you are planning to stay at the Grand Floridian definitely book a rest day in your schedule where you can just enjoy the resort. There is so much to offer from character dining at 1900 Park Fare, afternoon tea in the Garden Tea room, a piano player and jazz band performances in the evening. Not to mention the two pools, hot tub, spa that are available to enjoy. You can also hop on the monorail to enjoy a dinner at Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary Resort or 'Ohana at Polynesian. There is so much to enjoy just at the resort itself. We received excellent service from all the cast members we encountered on our trip. I wanted to make a special mention about our experience at Gasparilla's (quick service location) on our last visit. We stopped in for a pizza before we were planning some time relaxing at the pool. We ordered a whole pizza (which is not listed on the menu, but it is a better deal than ordering the individual pizzas that are on the menu). We were eating our pizza in the dining room and Cindy came over to see if there was anything we needed. She brought us plates for the pizza, parm cheese and pepper flakes. She even brought us cups for drinks and got us refills. She also introduced us to Cat and we spent some time talking with both of them. What a wonderful pair! They truly went above and beyond in providing us excellent service. More than you would expect from a quick service location. They went out of there way to make sure we had everything we needed and even brought us some surprise treats. Cindy and Cat really made our trip memorable and we look forward to seeing them again on our next trip. Overall, the Grand Floridian is a pricey place to stay but it really is worth the money for the level of service you receive.

"Perfect four day escape"

The Grand Floridian is, indeed, everything it's cracked up to be. I had booked a club level room in the Sugar Loaf building, so we were greeted by a personal concierge (by name) when we exited the Magic Express bus. He gave us a full tour of the property, including the best places to watch the Magic Kingdom's fireworks, and then took us to our building. The entire time, he addressed his comments not to my wife or I, but to our eleven year old daughter. The property is perfectly manicured, the rooms are extremely well thought out, the club-level amenities are excellent (light breakfast in the morning, snacks at lunch, drinks and apps in the evening), and most importantly: the people. Not enough can be said about how well Disney employees treat guests and for me this is truly what you're paying for. If you're not familiar with the Disney layout, the monorail will take you to both Magic Kingdom and Epcot, and it is insanely easy to use. The busses to Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Disney Springs are a bit shakier- we generally waited 20 minutes or more for them. Only very minor issue: if you're used to sleeping on a medium or firm mattress, you may want to check with the hotel in advance, because the beds at GF are extremely soft. Overall, this is a no-brainer five star review. The only thing that would keep me from staying at Grand Floridian again is all the other amazing properties at Disney that I'd like to check out as well.
