We arrived at the Edison midday a checked in within 5 mins, the lobby is stunning and has a great decor we were taken to our signature room and the terrace was opened for us, we overlooked Broadway which was amazing. The hotel had arranged balloons and a great teddy bear for my 40th, the room was classy and stylish with a modern twist. The door guy "bobby" has an amazing knowledge of NYC and nothing is to much trouble, he told us what to avoid and where to go! We headed to Times Square which is about twenty metres to the right of the main door. The hotel cleaners are first class and we had fresh towels and water daily also tea and coffee. The managers reception on Tuesday was great we chatted to Cynthia who was lovely and very pleased we enjoyed our stay. We will return for my wife's 40th in a little over a year for sure. The rum house which is the hotel bar is superb and offers a NYC bar experience not to be missed. The hotel is undergoing some work and will be even better next time we visit! I would recommend the Edison to anyone wanting a classy New York couples break. Bobby at the door told me how to get a cheap ticket for the New York Rangers at Madison square gardens, which I did and it's a night I won't ever forget! So thanks and a special shout out to Cynthia, Bobby and Tashianna! ðŸ‘🗽
"Very dated and average service"
We stayed here knowing it was purely for location but had no idea just how dated this is on the rooms that haven't been renovated. The first room we had the wifi didn't work in, this was due to being around the corner and at the back of the hotel. It took 4 calls and 2 trips to reception before we were finally helped and were able to move rooms. The service by everyone else except for the lady that helped us was very poor. We asked one lady how long check out time would take as we had to be up early for a flight "like less than a minute" was the answer we got with attitude. The door men were horrific. They just stand there, I didn't have a door open for me once and they only once offered to get a cab for us. We also carried our own heavy bags and were not offered assistance. All in all you can find better accomodation in New York than this for not much more.
My friend and I stayed in the Hotel Edison from the 18th to the 22nd February. Check in was fast and efficient so can't complain. I was a bit disappointed to discover we weren't allocated a renovated room (this was after me emailing the hotel a few times to request this). Anyway we had a room on the 4th floor which was good as due to the renovation some of the lifts were out of operation so we could avoid the queues and use the stairs. Our room although dated was extremely spacious with two double beds and plenty of space to leave out suitcases out. The bathroom was tiny but we weren't that bothered as it was clean and did the job! All the staff in the hotel were extremely pleasant and helpful. Times Square is literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel. There is also a Starbucks across the road and the hotel was more than happy to let guests bring food into the hotel....we even took pizza in one night! Check out is at 12pm but the hotel will hold on to your cases at 50 cents a bag which was good as our flight home wasn't until 8. All in all I would stay at the hotel Edison again purely due to its location and I'm sure once the renovations are complete it will look more modern.
"Great hotel, amazing location"
This is the second time I have stayed at the Edison in as many years. The location is fantastic, the rooms are as you would expect - certainly enough for the time you spend in there during a visit to the "big apple" and the staff are fantastic, especially Victor on Security - ever the professional when helping us out! Will stay here again when I'm next in new york
"Fantastic location ...."
You couldn't be closer to Times Square if you tried - 50 yards and you're right in the square. Stayed in signature room 1138 (after upgrading from a tiny classic). big room with 2 huge and very comfortable beds. Three windows but no views - not a great problem as didn't come to NYC to stay in room looking out of window!! Good free wi-Fi and coffee machine. Only downside was the bathroom - tiniest I've ever seen (smaller than a standard ensuite in a house). Security is good as you have to show card key to get to lifts. Shame there's no restaurant (or room service). On balance it's a good value hotel with a fantastic location and very friendly helpful staff. Not sure I'd stay here again though as stayed at The Belvedere (3 minutes away on 48th) last time which I think has the edge on Edison and is practically next door to Patzeria Italian restaurant (fantastic food and open for breakfast onwards).
