"A fun, welcoming hotel "
We came down from NYC for a snowy pre-Christmas weekend in Philly. It was our first time at the Kimpton Monaco, but it won't be our last. From our enthusiastic greeting by the bellman, to seamless check in, to ease in getting a last minute dinner table at the fully booked Red Owl for 4 starving travelers, our first hour at the hotel was effortless. Our room on the 4th floor was spacious and clean, designed with lots of personality, big bathroom and comfortable beds. Coffee and cocoa in the lobby every am was a nice touch. And the location is perfect. Great job Kimpton Monaco! See you next time.
We enjoyed our stay. The decor is whimsical and fun - felt very non-hotel-ish - although the common area furniture and carpet is beginning to look a bit worn. Bedroom and bath was very comfortable and the bed was also very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. The “living room†is a place you want to hang out in and people did, especially at happy hour where they offer complimentary wine. Location is great, right next to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell and walking distance to lots of other museums. It’s pricey but worth it.
"A wonderful hotel!"
I have stayed at this hotel many times and I am always dazzled by the staff and their commitment to pleasing their guests. (special thanks to Greg who made my most recent stay specially wonderful) Every hotel has occasional glitches and how they are handled is the most important factor in the quality of the guest experience. This hotel does an amazing job when everything goes smoothly but even more is impressive is how they handle things when there are problems. We have stayed at all he most highly rated Philadelphia hotels and we have stayed at many other Kimpton properties and this hotel has THE best service.....bar none. The rooms are clean, attractive, and comfortable. The location is fabulous. And Kimpton rewards program and perks are great. If you’re in Philadelphia or if you are just wondering where to go for your next getaway, THIS is the place.
"Awful experience managing rooms for a wedding"
I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past and was always happy with it - great service, friendly, clean, quirky. It's why we chose it as the hotel for our guests to stay at for our wedding, despite it being much more expensive than some of the other nearby hotels. However, once you switch over to room blocks for events, you work with a different team - one that doesn't seem to understand customer service or hospitality in general. This is more of a sales team that is there primarily to upsell you and to remind you constantly of your contractual and financial obligations to the hotel. I had a few things come up that I was trying to get sorted out. Our wedding started at 4pm, but check-in time was at 3pm, so I inquired about the possibility of getting early check in for my guests that day. I also needed to add a day to the room I reserved for my parents, who wanted to come a day before the wedding. These requests were met with either a harsh "no, and here is where we explain this in the contract that you signed" or "yes, but we have to charge more for that, and here is where we explain this in the contract that you signed". To be fair, the requests I had were last-minute and I did understand their policies, and I even acknowledged to them that I messed up and was in a pickle and needed help sorting out what I needed. But it wasn't their inability to meet my requests that upset me, it was their incredibly unprofessional and unapologetic responses that I always received. Their inability to talk to me like a guest that had 10+ rooms reserved with them. This happened 3-4 times before I was fed up. I had all my guests cancel their reservations and rebook somewhere else (because, well, per the contract that I signed, I wasn't required to book any rooms with them at all). A few days before my wedding, I received an email from one of the event coordinators reminding me that if I wanted to have welcome gifts sent to my guest's rooms, there is a charge for this, and that this is "fully explained in the contract that I signed". Attached to the email was a PDF of all of the people who had booked a room under my block (which was now completely empty because they had all canceled). This final email was validation for me that we made the right choice to switch hotels - the fact that the coordinator didn't even bother to look and see that we had all canceled and was basically just on autopilot. I am a big fan of Kimpton hotels, and this is a nice one if you just go for a night for leisure. But if you are already stressed out planning a wedding, this is not the hotel that is going to be a partner to you and take some of that stress away.
"Great location, great Staff, very child friendly "
We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. Let me me first state that this hotel is very child friendly. Our grandkids had a teepee set up in their room and they enjoyed it a lot. Rooms a very good, only small remark our room was quiet dark, since the window was looking at an inner courtyard of the hotel ( we were on the third floor) ask for a room between 5th and 9 th floor, you will have more light. The bar on the 11th floor has in and outside venues and the drinks are great. Valet service for you car, parking is 50 $ a day and they are quick bringing your car back. We enjoyed our stay and will certainly come back. Special thanks to Kayla & Ingrid at the front desk, you were great
