"So thoughtful - always making my stay special"
I always feel a bit like Alice in Wonderland when I stay there in the best possible way.Besides the lovely hotel and room design and elegant bath, the staff always does whatever they can to make my stays special. This trip, I asked the Monaco team to help me treat my sister who deserved some pampering. They completely hooked her up!
"DO NOT PAY for the RATE for roomsRESERVED AS A BLOCK for an event!"
As part of a wedding party , rooms were reserved as a block at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco for a Wednesday and Thursday night. The rate was quite high, so before booking, we checked the price for the same room for the same date and found the room was priced and AVAILABLE for our date at a much lower rate. Moral of the story, if you are part of an event for which rooms have already been reserved, check the rate you can get on your own first! That said, the staff at this hotel is wonderful. From the valet parking people to the front desk, the housekeepers and the dining room staff, all are friendly, helpful and full of helpful information. Check in is at three pm and can cause a bit of a wait as there are only two people working at the front desk. The same might be true of the noon check out time. Ask to have a room with a view of the city, not a room on the blank wall/parking lot side of the hotel. Our king size bed was comfortable, good linens, nice pillows and very quiet, overlooking Independence Hall. The wallpaper is a bit garish but once it gets dark, that is a non-issue! Heads up-there is an ironing board and an iron in the closet but the bathroom does NOT have a hair dryer, is provided with one bath bar of soap ( none for the sink). Towels are nice and fluffy and there are bathrobes provided. Our room was clean but had no working bathroom ventilation. The a/c was very quiet. Room darkening shades were quite good! The showerhead was installed at the back of a recessed stall and set so high that a five foot three person cannot reach up to adjust the spray. There is no grab bar in the shower and no door, just step right in and be careful if water sprays onto the floor. Plenty of hot water! Our event included a brunch in the Lafayette Room. Freshly scrambled eggs, gluten free options, huevos rancheros, bacon, sausage, lots of freshly made and warm muffins and pastries, endless coffee. The waitstaff in the room made sure that everyone was well taken care of, coffee refilled, requests addressed. The room is lovely and bright, a good place to start the day! Thanks to all the staff for being so accommodating and kind. Valet service is $50.00 and included in and out privileges. There is also a self park lot behind the hotel ( near the Bourse) that is cheaper but does not include in and out privileges. however, keep in mind that this hotel is in the middle of the historic district of the city. You can walk everywhere, to the museums ( the new Museum of the American Revolution, the NMAJH, to name two),to the historic sites. There is an abundance of public transportation to take you further afield , even to get you to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Barnes, the Rodin and the other museums on the Parkway. No need to take a car, really! Lots of good food options in the area, too. You cannot bet the location of the hotel or the friendliness of all of the staff who work there. You might be able to beat the block event price, though!
"Great location, busy decor"
The location is awesome with view of Independence Hall. For a historic location and building, the remodel was very modern and colorful and busy. It was incongruous to the environment and actually not to our taste level. The staff were very accommodating. There was an issue with the plumbing, but they relocated us.
"Board of Directors & Leadership Team Meeting(s)"
LOVE LOVE the Hotel Monaco in Philadelphia. We host all of our offsite Board & Leadership Team Meetings, Dinners and out of town guests at the Hotel Monaco. I can be at ease knowing that our meetings will run smoothly, the food is terrific and that the guests are in good hands. Our business meetings are successful due to the attention of detail that is given by the entire staff. The service is phenomenal from check in to check out! Thank you!!
We had a phenomenal time at the wedding and on our stay at the hotel! Janet and staff made our day everything it was and should have been! For that we are eternally grateful! Thanks for everything! ðŸ‘👰😘â¤ï¸
