The hotel is situated right right next to the liberty bell and Independence Hall and the 1 stop for a city hop on/off bus tour which takes to all the major attractions of the city. 2nd Street two blocks down where you can find a big variety of bars and restaurants. The hotel rooms are very trendy and have a very spacious bathroom and shower. They offer free coffee in the lobby during mornings and wine in the evenings. There is also a restaurant where you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner.
"Airshaft and no real WifFi"
If I had known either of two things, I would never have even checked in. One, my "wedding block discount" room was at the bottom of an airshaft, where sunlight never reached. Two, the "free" WiFi forced you to "set up an account" that demanded a huge amount of personal information, and no one in the wedding party even completed it.
As a former Philadelphian, I was in the city for a christmas party. The location was great, right on the corner of 5th and Chestnut. It would be great for anyone visiting the Liberty Bell or Constitution Center. The lobby is warm and inviting. The girls at the desk were nice and accommodating. The decor is chic and glamourous. Our room was clean and i absolutely loved the decor. Beds were comfortable, but pillows could definitely use some fluffing. Bathroom was very clean and had the best bathtub. I wished I had one at home. Overall, our trip was short but so happy we chose the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. Would stay here again and will look for a Kimpton the next time I travel elsewhere.
"Surprise Charges, and Mixed Experience"
I was staying with the Kimpton Monaco for multiple nights as part of a medium sized wedding party. The valet was helpful and the check-in process was quick, but disappointingly I had to return to the lobby to retrieve my bags as the cart was not delivered to my room. The room was very clean and the bedding was extremely comfortable. Bathroom toiletries were very nice. Although we were on the same floor as the Stratus lounge, we didn't hear it at all and the room was nice and quiet. The hotel is centrally located in the old city and close to numerous restaurants and attractions. The food was very good, the complimentary drinks during the morning and evening were a delight, and the bar in the hotel has convenient hours. I did have to double check and was being charged for another person's drink (but was kindly corrected). The wedding party was sent communications about discounted overnight parking rates which were not honored once we all checked out. When asked, the staff member went to check with management, but was ultimately declined. While I collected my bags in the lobby, I heard a similar situation with a very well-dressed older gentleman asking for a discount and was accepted, which ultimately made me feel discriminated against based on visual appearance, age, or income. I have no complaints with individual staff, who were excellent, but with the practices and experience of the hotel overall. There are a number of hotels in this area that I would recommend trying above this one.
"Best hotel in Philly - hands down!"
We spent night #1 of my birthday trip in Philly at the Monaco and we had a fantastic stay. We were upgraded to a city view room with an amazing view of Independence Mall. This hotel is also near many great restaurants and shops. The staff went out of their way to make sure that our stay was a memorable one, from the prompt responses to our requests and the birthday treats that they left in our room. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to the city.
