"Overnighter in Philly"
Great hotel in fantastic location. We had made a booking elsewhere, which after driving through the snow and rain from DC, we found had closed for renovations and hadn’t contacted us. With quick thinking needed and being foreigners, never having been to Phllly before, what should we do? I knew philly was a reasonable city and would have all the big name hotels, so knew I could find sonewhere, but as ‘regular’ Kimpton hotel visitors whenin the US, I put Kimpton into google maps and it found me the Monaco. The staff were very accommodating and found us a room straight away. Probably not the best rate around, but on short notice under these conditions we agreed to it. The room was huge, as was the bathroom. The location was incredible..opposite independence hall and the liberty bell centre..important for us as it was snowing heavily and the sidewalks were icy and slippery. Was also close to some great restaurants and coffee shops, I’d highly recommend Fork on Market st. Pretty close to the station as well, if you needed the metro. We used valet parking..$50/ night is very expensive, but we really had no option in the icy conditions. The 5pm wine hour was one of the busiest I have been to after staying at probably close to 10 Kimptons around the US.Great area with fireplace, lots of people and they even had the Shirley temple non wine option, which was obviously a specific touch from this hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night here and wish we could have stayed longer...should have booked with them in the first place.
"Absolutely fantastic from top to bottom!"
Top notch service and hospitality, can't imagine how a hotel could do better, best stay I have ever had! They have a free wine hour from 5-6 and a nightcap (shot of fine hard alcohol) if you request it. Staff good it of there way to ensure you have anything you need or want. Rooms are well decorated and taken care of.
"Stylish, Historic, and Well-Located"
The Kimpton Hotel Monaco sits catty-corner from Independence Hall - yes THAT Independence Hall, within steps of many places of interest that include the Liberty Bell and the new Museum of the American Revolution. It's also surrounded by National Park properties in downtown Philadelphia, and a short walk from many good restaurants. The building itself is an older commercial building that has been renovated to Kimpton standards and designs. That means you'll get a stylish interior, some pleasing quirks, and very good amenities. One of my favorites is the wine hour between 5 and 6 when they serve complimentary red and white wines in the lobby area. They also have, as you would expect from this chain, things like yoga maps and bicycles you can borrow to ride around town. We were a family of 3 and had a park view room with two queen beds. Truthfully, the room was nicely designed, but maybe a little tight on space, but that is a function of being a city hotel in an historic building. The bathroom was sizable and comfortable. We were here for three nights and the price varied widely among the three, in part, I believe, because of a large wedding party one night. Overall, while expensive that one night in particular we had an excellent experience.
"Great spring weekend in Philly!"
Roshid, the Hotel Concierge, was very helpful in advance of my trip. Upon arrival at the hotel, I received a warm welcome from the bell staff & valet. I had a wonderful stay over the course of the weekend & enjoyed great drinks at both the Red Owl (Friday night) & Stratus (Saturday night). Everyone I interacted with was incredibly nice & helpful. Plus, the hotel is beautiful & in such a great location.
Stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed every second. Everyone of the staff members was so nice and helpful. Valet was great. Room was a good size and was very clean. Amazing location! I will be staying here again when I return to philadelphia. I would highly recommend this hotel. Service is amazing.
