Tijdens uw rondreis in Oost-Amerika is Philadelphia zeker een bezoek waard. Philadelphia is een zeer moderne metropool met een rijk koloniaal verleden. Hier begon de Amerikaanse revolutie en hier ligt ook de oorsprong van de Verenigde Staten. Er is naast een flinke dosis aan cultuur genoeg te doen in Philadelphia.
"Visually & Viscerally assaulting!"
I am not a millennial and perhaps these rooms appeal to that generation. My sister and I are in the 50 -60 age range and found the decor of these rooms to fit my title. There were two competing wallpapers, both oversized for the scale of the room. The carpet looked like it belonged in a ballroom not a regular sized hotel room. The TV was in a large red cabinet that looked totally out of character with what was already disharmonious.The doors are painted a bright yellow that also feels out of place with the dark blue, red and wedgewood blue.

We stayed at the Hotel Monaco for a wedding recently and very much enjoyed our stay. Itâ€™s a typical Kimpton hotel, with relatively quirky dÃ©cor (our room was Alice in Wonderland themed) and friendly service. Plus you canâ€™t really go wrong with the daily wine hour in the lobby. From check in to check out all of the staff was very helpful; I had sent a package to be delivered ahead of my arrival and they quickly found it and delivered it to my room. Our room was spacious with an incredibly comfy bed. My only complaint would be that the fixtures in the shower were somewhat the worse for wear â€“ they could definitely use an update.
I just stayed at this Hotel 4 nights ago and let me tell you that the service was never better for me ever before. It's amazing that I comment on the service first because the decor, comfort and ease if this hotel was all over a top 10 rating! Everyone, and I mean everyone working there could not have been more accommodating and efficient with their service. Honestly, it made my trip in from far away, all the more better. I would definitely go back and spend my hotel experience with them.
"STAY OUT OF KIMPTONS!!!!!"
They canceled our reservation the same day of our arrival!!!! We had a reservation for a room with a king size bed; I called the hotel 3 days before to confirm my reservation - it was already confirmed by Booking.com; the concierge said that everything was set. I had to remain in NY and my husband traveled alone to Philly; I called the hotel again to give them his name - the reservation was under my name- saying that he would have checked in later since our daughter's volleyball game would end later that day. Philly was packed that weekend because of the national volleyball tournament. I received a call at 8 pm saying that - due to maintenance problems - they had to cancel our reservation. When my husband arrived to the Kimpton he wanted to check the room they say was having problems with the sink and he found out that the sink apparently had no problem... They booked a room for my husband in a 1 star hotel next to the highway !!!! It was the 4th time in 2 years that we reserved a Kimpton, does loyalty means anything to them???
We arrived before rush hour to check in and dress for a wedding. The hotel is located near the corner so we had to wait for the valets to jockey cars and clear a spot for us to pull in. There were only two clerks running check-in and the process was slow. Then the key to our room did not work and there was no-one to send up to us so we had to schlep back to the desk and wait for a replacement key TWICE. Finally, a manager brought us to our room and let us in and dispatched a tech to address the electronic lock while I scrambled to do hair & makeup and then dress. To say a rocky start is an understatement. But once everything was sorted out and I was able to focus on the room it was lovely; finely appointed & efficiently designed. I was pleasantly surprised by how luxurious and spacious such a tiny city hotel room could feel.
