Hotel Allegro behoort bij de Kimpton keten: sfeervol, modern en innovatief. Omgeven door theaters, vele bezienswaardigheden en gezellige uitgaansgelegenheden vormt het hotel een goede uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan Chicago. De kleurstelling is in overeenstemming met de levendige uitgaansomgeving: komt u de lobby binnen, dan doen het helderrood, diep oranje en glanzend groen en de grote openhaard gelijk warm en feestelijk aan. Zoals in alle Kimptons, drinkt u tijdens het 'wine hour' gratis wijn in de bar of lobby, krijgt u elke dag een krant en is er gratis thee en koffie. Het hotel grenst aan twee restaurants van naam: 312 Chicago en Encore Lunch Club & Liquid Lounge.

Chicago is na New York en Los Angeles de derde stad qua grootte van Amerika en is daarom een absolute aanrader tijdens uw rondreis in Amerika. De stad ligt in de staat Illinois, aan de oever van het Michigan Lake. Chicago O'Hare International Airport is één van de grootste luchthavens ter wereld, waar u arriveert als u Chicago opneemt in uw rondreis door dit deel van Amerika. De bijnaam van Chicago is 'Windy City', gerelateerd aan de sterke wind vanaf het Michigan Lake.

"Noisey wouldn't stay here again"

AWEFUL. You. An hear everything through the walls. Phones ringing doors closing. Phone conversations. The room is tiny. If there are two people in a room it is way to cramped. I would not stay here again if you paid me.

"Very Disappointing"

Ran up to Chicago for a weekend with my wife. I had seen the Allegro but never stayed there. I had, however, stayed at many other Kimpton properties and always been happy so we booked at the Allegro. The location is great. Right in the loop in the theater district. The lobby is contemporary and very chic. Beyond that, there's not much nice to say. When we checked in, the desk did not give us a minibar key. I guess they were distracted. The room itself, a "Premier King" room was tiny even by Kimpton standards. The bathroom was un-vented (you can imagine the obvious problem there). The walls were absolutely paper thin. You could clearly hear conversations in other rooms being held with low voices. No room service, just a "grab n' go" menu that reminded me of a 7-11. I valet parked but on Sunday, late morning, when I went to check out the valet charge was not on my account. The front desk suggested I could "just take care of it with the valet" rather than clearing the account at checkout. Speaking of checkout, it was difficult to even get to to the lobby to check out. At least one of the elevators did not work and so we were trapped on the 7th floor 30 minutes until an elevator came that was not so jammed that we could squeeze in. Overall the Allegro was like a mediocre package wrapped in fancy wrapping paper and was accordingly, a let down. If you are looking for upscale chic in the area that delivers on the promise, I would suggest the Monaco (also a Kimpton property) or the Silversmith instead.

"Decent Boutique Hotel"

In spite of having to change rooms 3 times I enjoyed my recent stay. I booked a king bed and was given a small queen room at checkin. I them was moved to a king room however it was clear that someone had smoked heavily in this room. Finally I was moved to a third room and it was very nice. The bed was very comfortable. The bath is the smallest of any hotel I have ever stayed in. The bath is similar in size to one you would find on a cruise ship It's located in the theater district and very easy to get around the city. I would highly recommend confirming the room type you are being given at checkin along with asking if the room has been smoked in

"Great Art Deco design"

We stayed at Allegro in Chicago for a long weekend. Great Art Deco design, daily happy hour in the lobby, a mix of main floor lounges, and fairly high-end restaurant. Our room was small but comfortable. Our flight was cancelled and we had to stay an extra night, and we're upgraded at last minute. Great staff from door to reception with shout-out to Austin, who assisted my wife on a couple of occasions.

"Good location but lacking customer service"

We stayed here for our anniversary. It's in a pretty centralized location in Chicago. The prices here are pretty reasonable for a hotel of this caliber. However the service for a hotel of this caliber was not good. It started with check in, I reserved a king room directly though the hotels website. I believe it was the Assistant Front Desk Manager who checked us in. We got up to the room right off the elevator, first off it was TINY...but secondly it was a queen bed. So I called down to the front desk and she proceeded to tell me the rooms are coded incorrectly in the computer - so the room appears as a King but they know it's truly a queen. So she asked us to come down and get a key for a new room (unacceptable in my mind - they made a mistake, so I would hope for an apology and I'll be right up with a new key and perhaps a comp for a drink or something...) So we head back down wait in line for them to process three other check-ins, almost causing us to miss our dinner reservations elsewhere. No comp or heartfelt apology. Next room was still very small but did have the King bed. I will stay elsewhere on future visits to the city, but I wanted to try this Kimpton as I've had great experiences at other Kimpton properties in the past. Also I found it strange that every time we entered or exited the property we never seen a doormen or greeted by anyone.
