"Great Vacation on the Beach"

   15-01-2017
We stayed at GP in Antigua a couple years ago and had a great time, so we tried GP in Negril this year. This is a great low key 3-4 star resort. Though owned by Sandals it's not the twice the price Sandals experience. You get what you pay for. The staff from the manager Derwin, to Charlene, Joseph, Marvette, Tysaun (sp) to Sean, all of them treat you like family and do whatever it takes to make you happy. Chilling on the beach all day, plenty of lounges, plenty of towels. Food for all three meals are buffet style and varied. There is a mix of traditional as well as Caribbean dishes plus salad and fruits in the morning. Breakfast has an egg station and Jody cooks a great omelet as well as over easy. When the buffet trays empty they do refill them, but remember this is island time, not big city, so it's not always immediate which doesn't bother me. As returning guests there was a managers dinner which was more upscale and if your a returning guest, make sure you say that! The bar has Jamaican brand liquors and Red Stripe Jamaican beer only on tap which satisfied us. We stayed in a beachfront cottage with two double beds as we traveled with our daughter. The room was neat and clean. This isn't a brand new Sandals resort so don't expect everything to be absolutely perfect, as your also not paying for that. We went out for three dinners and a lunch as you just walk off the resort and walk down the Beach to one of the many and varied restaurants. This was our choice but you can just stay here and eat the whole week the food is good. I was just in search of the perfect grilled lobster and a larger tv to watch the football game (Woodstocks!). This is a perfect low key unpretentious resort where the staff feel like your friends more than workers. Our only true beefs is that Sandals keeps them on a short leash and they ran out of red wine, red stripe beer, rum and vodka and they charge for wifi when it's free just about everywhere else. Apparently GP has to return all the empties before Sandals would release more. Due to this I'm not sure that I would ever go to a Sandals resort as I would be royally ticked at twice the price and no rum! I would think that Sandals would understand that you never get a second chance to make a first impression and it's never cheaper customer acquisition when there in your hand. They should do better. The management and staff at GP are first rate but they can only do so much. I would return here again as we had a great time.

"it really is the cutest little resort "

This was our second time to the GP and we had a blast. The property may not be 5 star but the staff certainly are. The beach is beautiful, the rooms are clean. This resort is a great home base to explore the famous 7 Mile Beach. Thanks to Devona and Marvette for going above and beyond to make our stay great. See you again in 2019!

"My 5th or 6th visit? "

Another fantastic vacay at my favorite hotel in Negril! Once again the staff was amazing and of course the location Is perfection! The selection of the food seems to have depleted as of late, I am not too sure why. But the hamburgers are very good and can be ordered anytime and the night they had fried chicken was delicious. I guess I would have to tell people to be prepared to buy dinner off property a couple of nights. That being said, I still love Grand Pineapple and I am not the only one lol During the returning guest dinner there was one man who has stayed a total of 680 nights! His comments mirrored my opinion that it's the grest staff and location that keeps him coming back. I encourage everyone that is going to Negril to give this hotel a try! If someone is going to spend almost 2 years of their life and counting vacationing there, aren't you curious to see why?

"The best ever"

   11-01-2017
I loved this resort. I reviewed all the info on TripAdvisor before I booked my trip with 6 other friends and family. Including 2 children. We stayed over 2 weeks at Christmas2016. The food was good with a lot of variety especially of Jamaican food at every meal. Lots of fruit and salads and extras. Afternoon cheeseburgers. Yum. I loved all the guests especially the eccentric regulars that brought a lot of humour to the place. The staff and management are special. Derwin sets the friendly tone. Everet manages the beautiful grounds and helps the guests. Marvette is the best out of many skilled bartenders. She took good care of everyone. Kevin and Deloris and Christopher ran the dining room with a lot of love and cheerfulness. Angela gave me a great facial and Alcea was the front desk master. There are more expensive places and I have been to those and they are certainly not as good in service and care for their guests.

"Welcome to Paradise"

Because of its size and the friendliness of the the staff I felt like I was staying with family. The resort is not large and does not include amenities like you would find at a mega-resort like Beaches down the road, which is really geared more for families with children; and Beaches is huge compared to this resort. This resort is homey, very clean and comfortable; even the guests were friendly. We stayed on the beach-side and I loved that it was small enough that we were just steps from most everything; dining, beach, bar, etc. Meals are served as a buffet and begin at 7:30am and go until 10pm with attached dining area all in open lanai style with adjacent bar, all of which overlook the beach. If you happen to miss lunch because you were off enjoying the island's beauty and it's too early for dinner, the staff will cook you up a hamburger and french fries to tide you over. They offer local cuisine as well as themed nights with a soup, salad bar and a number of different desserts. The resort is separated by a busy road, one side being beach-side, the other garden-side. But they do provide guests with crossing guards to make crossing the road safer. The garden-side is much quieter and also has the pool. But the resort is small enough that it is just a short walk to the beach-side where all the activity is. We stayed in one of the cottages and it was clean, comfortable and air conditioned with a connecting covered front porch with table and chairs to relax, have a drink or eat a meal. Many thanks to Charlene with Island Routes Caribbean Adventures at the resort who set up our excursions. She is a gem and she felt like a sister from another mother who helped us decide on what excursions to choose while staying within our budget. She was a huge help and was instrumental in making our stay fun and memorable and went above and beyond the call of duty. Thanks also to Alicea at the resort front desk who helped us in ways that made our trip that much more enjoyable. The resort does offer off its beach: snorkeling, paddle-boarding, windsurfing, catamaran, kayaking, etc. or you have the option, for a fee, to book excursions outside of the resort. My cousin and I stayed the week after Christmas 2016 and was there for New Year's Eve. The resort did a wonderful job of setting all the dining up on the grounds with a live reggae band and a delicious buffet with roasted ham, roasted turkey, jerk chicken and a number of other great foods to enjoy. At midnight we enjoyed fireworks that the resort set off over the ocean. If you are looking for a place you can go to relax without the crowds and sip pina coladas on the beach that has good value for your money, you would probably enjoy it as we did. We enjoyed our stay there so much we are planning a return trip in July 2018 with another cousin in tow. Things to note: bring your own shampoo and conditioner, those are not provided. They do insect fogging (as they have to for mosquitos) at 5am on Mon, Wed and Fri that is quite loud but not long. They also do not have free wi-fi. The cost was $14.95 per day; one guest said you could get it for something like $42 a week. Because we were there for the enjoyment of the resort and Jamaica, we happily did without the wi-fi and none of these were deal breakers.
