Het eiland Sint Maarten is verdeeld in een Nederlands en een Frans deel. Het Nederlandse deel is gelegen in het zuiden. De hoofdstad van het Nederlandse deel is de gezellige stad Philipsburg. In deze stad zijn er veel winkels en een gezellige boulevard met restaurants en bars, gelegen langs de Great Bay met prachtig helderblauw water. Het Nederlandse deel van Sint Maarten heeft veel te bieden. Zo is hier de luchthaven van het eiland te vinden, alsmede de bekendste attractie van het eiland, de Sunset Beach Bar. Hier kunt u onder het genot van een hapje en drankje genieten van spetterende entertainmentshows. Omdat in dit deel de luchthaven van Sint Maarten te vinden is, is het Nederlandse deel van Sint Maarten het perfecte startpunt van uw Sint Maarten vakantie.
"Beautiful rooms. "
Resort was beautiful but beach was less to be desired. Found other beaches to make up for it. Lucky we had a car to travel around to find better places to swim. Bed was amazing and room was spotless. Staff were helpful and friendly.
"timeshare vultures and don't think SPG means ANYTHING here!"
The timeshare sharks here are ridiculous and sadly there is no pathway in which you can walk that you don't come across them. In addition, we paid for an "ocean view" and what we got was a roof top if the restaurant below, semi ocean glance. if you sat in the chairs provided, you saw a railing and a rooftop. ridiculous when as an SPG member who often times stays at Westin resorts, we couldn't get a room down the hall marked specifically for SPG members. Those actually probably had a view. Food and beverages were as expected, good quality, great service. Front desk staff, valet team, and bellmen were all Westin quality and friendly, helpful, and quick. Ocean was amazing, great service on the beach, good chairs, clean. Pool looked cloudy and dirty, but there were about 45 people in it, so could have just been that. overall a solid 2 as we didn't get what we paid for at all and folks shouldn't feel like they are being hounded to tour or buy when all they want to do is get to the gift shop or their room. I actually cancelled a corner, ocean view, king suite at a boutique hotel up the road because of the Westin name, I will think twice before doing that again. We drove by and regretted cancelling that booking the rest of the stay :( bad job SPG, get on this hotel as they are giving you a terrible name.
"Once you get past the timeshare hawkers"
We were waved over from the side of the road that led to the Westin by a young couple that looked like they were having car trouble. but no they were employees of the hotel trying to trick passing motorists into participating in a scratch off game to win prizes. We went thru the motions, they were sweet and who knew, we might win something. Then when we supposedly did, they said only a couple could actually win the prize. We only had one true couple in our group and they were same sex. Not allowed, says lovely girl. ugh, What a scam and anti LGBT to boot, just trying to push time shares. This whole thing is set up to lure guests to the hotel. We already had eight services booked at the spa and were going any way. Not a good start to our Westin experience. Got to the hotel, two more people in lobby tried to get us to play the scratch off. Finally got to spa. Very nice receptionist. Decent facilities, could use a little TLC. Good massage and average mani/padi. Nice therapists though. Pool deck is beautiful with excellent service.
"Green Hair, Westin don't care! ðŸ˜¡"
Yes, green hair is exactly what my friend and I left with after dipping into their jacuzzi at night. All we got was baking soda to help get the green color out, the end result, broken greenish hair. A report was filed, but no apology from management given. What's more, they assured us the jacuzzi would be closed due to the incident we reported, yet I never saw a sign closing it or warning guests about dangerous chemicals. My hair was green and started falling that night, many of the staff witnessed this. Yet once again, management never apologized or even offered to take my friend and I to a salon were our hairs would be fixed. At checkout, we spoke with Antonio Eleonora, we asked for the manager Dan, but he never came. Instead, after Antonio only offered points for the inconvenience, we insisted it wasn't enough because it would cost hundreds of dollars alone to fix our hairs and purchase new swimsuits which were damaged by chemicals in the jacuzzi. So Antonio went to the back office and when he came back assured us that the whole stay would be comped. Instead; however, the credit card on file was charged and when we called to inquire, Antonio denied what he had said to us and said nothing would be credited for our stay. I am baffled by how management allowed this to happen since this is not the first time I or my friends have stayed at this hotel. It has cost me over $200 alone to get the green color out of my hair and try to hydrate it so it stops falling/breaking, it will take a few hundred more dollars to bring the blonde highlights back and fully revive my hair to the healthy state I had it in. I am attaching photos of our green colored hairs. One is of me with green wet hair at the entrance of the dinning hall (waiting for someone to bring baking soda from the kitchen since washing it numerous times didn't work), the other of my friend with green hair in the room. Not sure if the hotel will approve of photos being posted, but we have them. The Westin did not live up to its name during our visit and though we tried to make the best of our weekend getaway in paradise, as a woman who takes great care of her hair, it not only almost ruined my vacation but took days after the fact to be able to get it fixed to where I felt more comfortable going out in public. I can assure you I will cease recommending the Westin immediately because of the lack of attention and consideration management had with us after the incident.
"Jewel in the Caribbean"
What a hotel. While this may not be most luxurious hotel we have ever stayed at, the staff at this facility is what makes this hotel a gem. Of all the hotels we have ever stayed at this may have been the best run hotel we have been to. It all starts at the top, the GM's Dan and Daniel could be seen walking the property daily inspecting everything, and taking the time to talk people like us staying at the Hotel. the welcoming feeling they emote to the guests of the hotel was seen to trickle down to all the staff at the hotel. The genuine sincerity we felt the entire trip was amazing. We decided on this hotel to celebrate our 25th anniversary, we did not want to go to far away from NY as we had done Hawaii last year, and French Polynesia the year before- both very long flights. My wife had been to St Maarten 30 years ago, and I had never been. This was the first time we have ever stayed at a Westin property, and certainly will not be the last after the service we were given. You know you have a arrived at a world class hotel when you are greeted at the front door by a big warm smile and greeting from Stevenson. To be met upon arriving by Stevenson was special, and throughout our trip Stevenson was always warm and engaging and we got to know him and who he is- a very special man and a great asset to the Westin. When Stevenson was not working at the front door we were well taken care of by Denel and Frisner, two other men with the warmth and kindness of Stevenson. On our last day at the hotel, Stevenson came out to the pool to say goodbye to us as he was not working that night, nor the next day- this is unheard of in any hotel and just shows how special the staff at this hotel is. At the front desk we were greeted by Sandy and throughout the trip we had interactions with Cassie, Amani, and Antonio- Antonio made sure on our last night that he printed our air tickets for our flight home, prior to our arrival we had received an e-mail from Antonio on any special needs we would need for our room, and he made sure these were done prior to our arrival . We did meet others at the front desk and all were professional, warm and very helpful. Antonio had put us in touch with Nickey who is the concierge- Nickey made all of our dinner reservation's for restaurants we suggested, and had suggestions of restaurants we should go to that we did and they were excellent. As goes with the rest of the excellent customer service we had, one night one of our restaurants decided to close, and Nickey came to the pool to tell us she had made reservations for us at another restaurant we were interested in, again who does this, just another example of excellent service. The cleaning staff kept our room clean and fresh everyday, and we always had plenty of towels. We had breakfast at Ocean Restaurant every morning, and once for dinner. From the first morning we set foot in the restaurant we were warmly greeted by Kevin, and we recieved great service from Melinda, Simon and Rosie. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and the food fresh, the one dinner we had at the Ocean restaurant was very good. My wife had to have her nails re-done while we were at the hotel, and she was helped by Nelly at the Spa who did an excellent job and had a very warm and welcoming demeanor. Lastly the pool area, my wife is in a wheelchair and while they do not have the lifts to put someone in the pool, the staff went out of there way to make sure she was able to get into the pool everyday and carry her out of the pool everyday- we cannot thank the pool team enough for what they did for us, and how they did it like this was normal and not an inconvenience to them. The Staff at the pool and the Liquid bar at the pool are second to none, and each of them are not only warm and caring, but very friendly, spent a lot time talking with us- like stated above the attitude of the hotel starts at the top, and the engaging manner that Dan and Daniel have is shown throughout the entire staff of the hotel. The stars at the pool and Liquid bar we had contact with, and these are all superstars in service were- Jeffon (who saw us at the airport on our way home and stopped for a picture with us, Alfonso, Weewee, Alexander, Richard, Devon, Kalil, Kim, Chantal, Regena, and Alena- everyone of them interesting and special. We than the entire staff of the Westin for making our 25th anniversary vacation a very memorable and perfect trip- everyone of you made a special trip perfect!
