"Good value and nice rooms"

Check in was friendly and efficient. The room was clean and while a bit spartan had everything you really need. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The 50s decor is fun and sets this place apart from the bland motels in the area. It is on a busy road, but the noise isn't bad. The price for us and 2 dogs was very reasonable. $20 for 2 dogs is a fair price and makes this hotel truly dog friendly. We would stay here again when we don't want to break the budget

"A Budget Motel"

Let’s not make any bones about it, this is an old old motel that has been given a funky paint job and some minor updates such as carpeting, sinks, tv, and furniture. Everything else is OLD and not always working, i.e. heater in the bathroom, toilet won’t flush unless you stand there and hold down the handle until it is finished draining, ceiling paint peeling above the bathtub, crooked bathtub faucet, shower head you can’t adjust the angle of. Small kitchenette with a combo stovetop/fridge/sink - takes forever for the burners to heat anything through. There are dishes, cutlery, pots, etc. All you need including a corkscrew. Even though it is fall and COLD here, the bedding is meagre with a wafer thin duvet between two sheets. Ask for blankets and they will come. Nice fat pillows. The carpet has no nap and no underlay so the floors are very hard. No dresser for clothing, there’s file drawers - never seen that before. Also could use a lamp on the far side of the couch as there is no lighting on that side of the room at all. Oh and one of the tv remotes not working… batteries maybe but the one working remote works for both tv’s so close the door between rooms or one will come on when you turn the other one off. It’s a relatively quiet suite I had - over the pool so no one above me. End unit by the stairs so you can hear people who pound instead of step up each stair. Bedroom that I didn’t use between me and the neighbour so no transference of sound until some people checked in drunk after a concert and did what I only can surmise was play squash with their suitcases. Until 4am after checking in at 1:30am and yelling at the other 28 people who checked in with them across the courtyard, the back walkway, and decks; and banged in and out of their doors for a good hour before deciding to stay inside. There’s also nothing to buffer the sound from the pool below and the slide outside your window so be prepared for a cacophony of noise until the pool is closed at 10pm. Thank God! There is construction going on at the mall across the street starting at 7am every week day so forget sleeping in unless you have good earplugs. I suggest the silicone mouldable ones for swimmers. I was here for almost three weeks (for work - I didn’t choose this place!) and had housekeeping come in once. Didn’t dust, didn’t clean the toilet, didn’t clean the mirror, DIDN’T CHANGE THE SHEETS!!! All he did was vacuum, make the bed, and change the towels (taking the tea towel and dishcloth and leaving two dishcloths as replacements!) I called the front desk and asked for the toilet, mirror and sheets to be done. Next day he did the toilet and sheets. It took THREE visits to get everything done. That is just not okay. The parking lot is terrible - very crowded with small pass-through’s for cars coming and going - my car got hit through the night (no note of course) so learn from my mistake and park under the building or between other cars, NOT on an outside parking space. There’s a bit of a lounge in the reception building, never used it so can’t comment and same for the restaurant on site. Oh and I almost forgot, my room was inundated with fruit flies from the moment I arrived. I made traps for them out of a glass, some wine, plastic wrap with holes poked in it and an elastic band. Caught 70-100 while I was here and who knows how many I swallowed through the night. Disgusting! I was sure not to leave any food mess about (not that I would anyway) and by the time I left they were all gone. But it took until three days before departure for them to be gone. Super annoying. I wouldn’t stay here again and I wouldn’t recommend it.

"Great price, cool atmosphere. "

One of the best prices hotels in Victoria, small rooms but awesome common areas. Free VW shuttle! Water slide and pool were open in October while other hotels we stayed at were not the days before. First place I've seen with another book besides the bible!

"Great nights sleep"

Wasn't expecting such a great night's sleep at this hotel on busy Douglas Street. The bed was very comfortable and so was the pillow - not to be overlooked as I have stayed at much more expensive hotels with terrible pillows. It had a great tiled walk in shower which sure beats climbing in and out of bathtubs - does anyone actually take a bath in a hotel?? As a single woman staying overnight, I really appreciated the well lit parking and walkways when I returned to the hotel around 11pm. I didn't take advantage of the swimming pool - it looked great; will probably do so next time. This is a well priced and comfortable hotel, well within walking or a bus ride of central Victoria.

"Perfect for our Needs!"

We stayed in a Sweet Suite for Thanksgiving weekend as I was running the 1/2 Marathon. Checked in Saturday afternoon, my husband and I and our three boys aged 15, 10 and 4. The room was exactly as I expected, and older building but with a funky facelift. Our suite was roomy and the extra bedroom with TV was nice for my husband I. Pros: Staff was very helpful & friendly. The kids loved the pool & waterslide. kids loved the pingpong lounge. The a.m. of the race the VW van was out of commission so staff gave us a ride in her own vehicle, that was so very kind. Clean, adequate towels, dishes, blankets and pillows provided. Cons: Hot tub temp was colder than I would have liked. Old building = very little soundproofing. Next time I'd ask for unit on top floor with no footysteps above! I heard every little detail of what went on next door! Price was not cheap, but not extravagant. I dont' know if we paid extra cause it was a long weekend/special event, but we paid $450 for 2 nights after taxes, etc. which I think was about $75 more than I think reasonable. No in-room coffee (we had a coffee maker but no coffee was provided) I'd go again with kids in a heartbeat, but if you want luxury or romance, this is not the place.
