"Amazing - travelling with husband for business"
What can one say when you're in the middle of the storm of the century. Well, good thing we were staying at Hotel 71, cause that was the place to be even in the "dark". Power was lost around 10:50pm Tues, room was warm so no problem there. Made our way down to the lobby next morning, where it was lit with tons of candles as power was still out. No coffee, no problem, Susan Wilkinson GM, was taking care of getting some, as well as making everyone feel at ease. Arrived back late that night to a romantic setting of lit candles again, but still no power. That's when Susan sent us up to Chateau Frontenac by cab to spend the night at no expense to us. Thurs, power has been restored, back to business......Kudoos to each and everyone at Hotel 71, if you want a wonderful place to stay with warm & friendly people, do stay here, you'll not be disappointed, from the very personal greeting from Samuel on the night of our late arrival (Sunday) for a week business trip to the evening staff, Alexandra and my new friend Francine Asselin who was always interested in what I've done or where I've been during the day. Please, do yourself a favour, check out Hotel 71 and enjoy the personal and genuine service they offer......We'll be back soon.!!!!!
"very nice hotel close to all Old City and areas. Staff very professional"
we stayed for the weekend and enjoyed our visit. The breakfast could have used a bit more gluten free offerings most offerings were bread, bagel, muffin type. The bar is very small and it is where dinner is served as well perhaps an offering for casual drinks in the lobby near the wine bar would be inducive for those who want a quiet place to relax with a cocktail. The room was nice we were happy to have the large heavy curtain as it was the coldest night of the year and it helped to keep out drafts. the only suggestion would be for a fan/ vent in the bathroom.
The hotel is absolutely amazing. The rooms are modern and offer many upgrades such as a Nespresso coffee machine and speakers throughout the room. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The hotel lobby has a wine dispenser which allows you to taste different wines and bring your glass to your room or enjoy it in the lobby. Such a nice touch! Overall - the best hotel in Quebec City. My husband and I stay here every year.
"Nice room but disappointing breakfast"
Nice hotel with nice rooms. But staff seems too busy answering the phone at front desk. It takes forever to get your check in/ checkout done. Breakfast is very disappointing! No omelet or cooked eggs. Also if you go too late they run out of food. Finally. Our friends who had the same kind of room paid 50,00$ less than us. We will go to another hotel next time.
"Perfect hotel for our weekend"
This hotel is located closer to the river. There are great restaurants and places to wander nearby. The only downside is that if you want to into the old city you have a bit of a hike up the hill (the funicular was not operating on the winter weekend we visited). The hotel itself is gorgeous. We opted for a suite and found it to be worth it as we had more room and a fantastic view. Staff were helpful, the restaurant was excellent. No complaints and highly recommended.
