"Great place to stay"
The service was excellent, Josh the reception staff in particular were just so helpful. They gave advice and booked restaurants, helped us get about with what to see. The rooms were lovely overlooking the harbour. They ran a very regular free shuttle service that we used to go in and out of town for tours and evening dinner, they even took us to the float plane terminal when we left
"The best hotel to stay at in Victoria."
I've been staying at the Coast Victoria for almost 30 years, and it is always the same; great stay, phenomenal people. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially if a Victoria Harbour view is something you're looking for.
"Not up to expectations"
We booked the hotel on its location and the fact that it is walking distance to the city and also has parking. The location was perfect, with good views of the harbour and sea planes from our balcony and a short walk to Fisherman's Wharf where a water taxi can be caught (they also stop at hotel pier) and a decent walk into the main city. Check in was efficient but very unwelcoming and when we got to our room we found it to have a very stained and dirty carpet and a bathroom that had hairs over the floor and shower and a mirror that had not been cleaned at the higher level. These were mentioned to reception but nothing changed during our two night stay. We asked the concierge for advice about attractions and the hop on hop off bus and it was more than he could do to look up and provide leaflets. If he was busy doing something else then do it away from the desk. There were two dogs in the adjacent room and whenever the balcony door was opened all we could hear was barking - stopping us from using this feature that we paid for. There was dirt outside the door - which looked like it was from a dog but we didn't examine it too closely. I was told afterwards that there are separate floors for people with animals (I find it strange that any hotel accepts pets but that seems to be the rule in Canada) but was not offered an animal free floor on check in, which may have been a nice touch. The restaurant seemed fully booked the night that we wanted to eat in, (tip, book in advance since many visitors are using it) but we found a perfectly nice restaurant just round the corner (Nourish) with excellent and imaginative food. Breakfast was just average and whilst we ate off the menu, the eggs and French toast we both overcooked and dry as though they had been standing for a while and not freshly cooked, therefore not value for money. Bar staff on an evening were great and really helpful, as was the check out person. There was limited public seating nd what there was seemed dominated by a coach party who made the reception area so noisy that no one else could hear. Would I return? Unlikely unless I can be guaranteed a room away from animals and which was clean. Hotel requested feedback that majored on the electric toilet seat - my least memorable part of the stay. Think about clean carpets and bathrooms first.
"Relaxing business trip"
In Victoria BC, Canada for business. Hotel was a great place to relax and unwind after the day sitting in a conference room. Great location short walk along the harbour from downtown. Excellent breakfast included. Thanks for the great stay.
"A comfortable weekend"
I'd been craving a few days away from home, and a trip to Victoria Harbor for months, so I decided to combine the two. A weekday weekend, as it turned out. I chose Coast Victoria mainly for the swimming pool, Wifi, and savings compared to the hotels nearby. Overall, my stay was very enjoyable! The staff was courteous! During my stay, I had to have my coffee brewer replaced twice, the first didn't work at all, and next only once. Normally, I wouldn't have minded, but I had bought some new tea on my shopping excursion I wanted to try. The staff was apologetic for the inconvenience, which was super endearing! The bed was so comfortable, I had to will myself not to nap away my first afternoon. The hotel location is about a five minute walk from the main harbor area. Traffic was quieter as a result, and I've always found Victoria Harbor easy to traverse on foot. Coast Hotel Victoria was perfectly suited for a comfortable stay, convenient location, with competitive prices when compared to the neighboring hotels.
