"Excellent hotel, great location"
excellent hotel, with very helpful and friendly staff. The location is great as it is easy to access all attractions and shops. We were celebrating my boyfriends birthday whilst staying at the hotel and the staff arranged for a bottle of wine in the room for us. Would definatley reccommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Francisco!
"Convenient but not comfortable"
PROS: As other reviews have noted the best thing about this hotel is it's location. It is located on Powell St just a block or so from the cable car turnaround. This was perfect as we started our day with a cable car ride to Fisherman's Wharf and rode the entire line. There's plenty of shopping nearby. The decor was modern and the hotel was very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. CONS: We paid for a deluxe room and were on the sixth floor. The room was completely tilted. The floor was noticeably slanted and was very disorienting to walk through. The king sized bed, though very comfortable, was arranged so that our feet were slightly above our heads. The air conditioner was a window unit that even at full blast all night didn't really the room very cool. If you like it to be cold when you sleep this could be a problem. All in all, it was fine for one night for non-picky travelers. Like I said, if you are looking for convenience over luxury then this hotel is fine. The hotel does not offer in room dining except for breakfast, but there is a restaurant right next door that offers carry out. A helpful hint: the parking garage the hotel uses is the O'Ferrell Garage. If you plan on leaving your car parked and using the public transportation, then pay at the garage rather than through the hotel. You pay a premium for in and out privileges. Since we didn't drive anywhere, paying at the garage saved us about $25.
"Small quiet hotel one step from the cable cars!"
We took the BART and found our hotel a 1 block walk from the Powell Street station. It's a tiny boutique type hotel squeezed between 2 other businesses so it's easy to walk right past (which we did), but if you make it to Union Square....you went too far! The lobby is cute, and the staff is friendly and helpful. I won't lie, I felt a little disappointed when we got into our room. It was very small, and the window looked onto another window. We had been given an inside room overlooking the "court yard" which is just the second story gravel roof. One night's sleep really changed my tune though. Unlike every other hotel room we've ever stayed in around Union Square, this one was SO QUIET. We heard one of our neighbors go past in the hallway, and that was it! Slept like a baby! Add to that the fact that the cable car runs right outside the door, and I can definitely say I would stay here again next time I visit beautiful San Francisco.
"Everything thing I needed was here"
I wanted to see San Fran at its heart...hear it...experience it...and be with it! You can hear the clang clang clang of the trolley cars, see the bums, the locals, the characters, the tourists, shop at great stores, eat at great places, and see all the landmarks easily from this hotel. There is a Walgreens right across the street to get anything you forgot or medicine that you might need too. Parking was easy too!
"Great Location! Great Hotel! Worth it! "
This is the third time I've stayed at this hotel and although it can get pricey (it is downtown San Francisco after all) the location is so great it's definitely worth it. We have booked through the hotel directly, third party website and this latest time through Groupon and gotten great deals through all. It's a very modern boutique hotel right on Powell Street (which is where the famous SF trolleys go through). You are 2 blocks from union square and 2 blocks from the mall and Bart/Muni station for getting around easily. There is also so much around the hotel like places to eat, things to do within walking distance and lots of stores including a Walgreens right across the street. The Hotel itself is very modern and clean, love the aesthetic throughout this hotel! The staff was very friendly and had never had any issues here. The hotel even has a wine hour in the afternoon. The best part of the hotel is definitely location. Convenient and easy to get to, best way to experience San Francisco is definitely right in the middle of downtown. There is a lot to do around the hotel, you can walk to union square, financial district, the famous Chinatown Dragon Gate, the SFMOMA, the mall, the trolley station and so much more. The hotel is also only a block away from the Bart/Muni station so you can easily hop on the train or bus to get to any locations further away. We enjoyed some time in The Castro and The Mission this way. Have no complaints, beautiful San Francisco hotel in a great location...would definitely come back!
